I’ve just had a letter through the post from the ONS offering every member of our household £425 in vouchers for having a Covid test every month for a year.

They come to your house at your convenience.

Meanwhile people are driving three hours for a test ?

They seem to be sending them randomly to a certain number of households. Government have commissioned a study with Oxford Uni to understand the virus.

It’s probably a good thing to be honest that they are at least doing some forward planning. Just a shame they’ve got no tests for people with actual symptomslol

They're testing random cross sections of the population to get an idea of prevalence. A lot of people will be asymptomatic so they best way they can get data and figure out what percentage is by random testing.

Flew back in the uk ten days ago, looked online for an option to take a test but only an option for people with symptoms or essential workers. Will look to get a private test before I go see my folks. Pretty surprised by now the situation isn't test test test at every opportunity to get as many infected folk as possible out of circulation as soon as possible. Will look to get a private one done.
