Anti lockdown people where I live say that 700 odd deaths don't justify it because of the massive damage it has done, and is doing to the economy and most of them were in aged care, anyway. They don't put it as bluntly as that but that's what they mean.

Infections peaked at 732 on August 5th and daily infections are down to double figures after the lockdown went up a level. I wonder how many more infections
and deaths there would have been since then had there been no lockdown.

Incidentally, I came across a statistic a few days ago that last year there were over 900 deaths here from influenza. So far this year there have been 32, and
you can put that down to the effect of the lockdowns.

Or the Corona deaths are actually from influenza....

Is that Australia mate?

Not sure what to make of that. It seems pretty benign across loads of areas, but less so in a few hot spots. I guess that is where the resources should be focused on. With care and continued SD/masks everywhere else.
I still can't believe we're holding things together down here after all the visitors over the last 2 months.

Weekly infection rates went up slightly to start with, remained constant for a few weeks and actually went down last week.

Only just about reaching double figures for the week for the whole of Cornwall. I guess visitors on the whole have been following the rules

That is really encouraging.

Reading a book about the immune system at the moment (nowt to do with Covid). There was one passage in there about how the infection fighting t cells survive and thrive better in warmer temperatures. Speculating to myself about whether that might be the reason (or one of them) why there might be less severe cases despite the increase in numbers at the moment. But I'm not a medical professional so could be way off there.
