I know. And nothing has ever been reconciled. One thing one day, another the next. In a gym where everyone showers upon leaving and wipes all the weights down can be no more harmful than the shops that were always open. That's open to debate by hardcore lockdown people but there are also mental advantages of the gym that have never really been considered. It's a touchy subject but personally like numerous other people, if I cant live then I cant live.

It really is easy to find articles on studies as to why they can be dangerous. Thats just two of about 18 from various sources about the risk.

Up to you. I'm talking about mental health and long term physical fitness.

4 weeks until the kids are supposed to go back to school having missed 5/6 months of education.

Absolute shambles.

The school issue is a real poser for me. It doesnt affect me personally, but even so, I just cannot see a way to get them open in anything resembling normal. The best I can come up with is some sort of staggered classes, over a 2 week period, with half the kids going in one day, the other lot on the next, and so on.

Trouble with that though is would the teachers buy it? And thats before you get to the child care on a day on/day off situation.

You keep saying mental health. Tell me where are the studies and reactions from the majority who use gyms about their mental health decline?

Most it seems have found alternative methods. Even some hardcore lifters. Why not follow suit and watch their tutorials and instructional videos on you tube to see how they adjusted instead of making bold claims.

You know there are plenty of ways to exercise so your silly long term fitness claim is absurd.

Seemingly its only your mental health that you care about. So much so you blame it all on fat people.

A lot can and will happen in the next 4 weeks before the kids go back, christ, you could go to a sporting event at 10am this morning and by the time homes under the hammer had finished, you couldn’t.

We’re desperate for ours to go back, and the lads themselves want to go back !

I know what your message is but everyone is different. I know loads of home work outs but I need the actual process of going to the gym etc etc...the ritual if you like. Drug addicts are similar in that they enjoy the process as much as the product.

I agree that I'm selfish but in this mess everyone sort of is.

I am sure they do. But thinking back to when my lads were at school, the balance of child care between me my ex would have been a nightmare to sort.

It is my opinion that if people exercised more we wouldn't be in the position we are in now as there would be fewer potential deaths.

If you could wind the clock back 20 or 30 years, and encourage all those who are now 60+ to eat better, exercise more and reduce their overall health risk profile, and, more specifically, their COVID risk profile, then there'd be some merit in that.

But, although it's never too late to change your lifestyle, the reality is that the health horse, short term at least, has bolted, and opening gyms will likely make such a tiny dent in that, that you wouldn't even notice.

Therefore closing gyms is stupid.

See above, at least until it gets colder and wetter come late Autumn ( when it starts getting harder for people to exercise outdoors ), there's a very real possibility that the health benefits of having gyms open are outweighed by the increased risk of transmission.

Yeah, you are the only person on the planet who has had their routines turned upside down.

Selfish is the correct word.

As far as im concerned send the kids back to school ASAP.

Lets be honest we've all seen gangs of kids/teenagers hanging around town or in parks even during lockdown.

They may aswell be learning at the same time.
