Results from the UK Biobank survey came out yesterday showing who has antibodies in the UK

https://www.ukbiobank.ac.uk/2020/07/uk-biobank-covid-19-antibody-study-latest-updates/ and

Highlights are :-

These first results provide a snapshot for May and June of past SARS-CoV-2 infection, revealing that:

  • overall in the study, 7.1% of the participants had been infected previously
  • there was no difference in the rates of previous infection between men and women, but the rates were higher in younger people (ranging from 10.8% in those under 30, to 5.4% in those over 70)
  • previous infection was most common among people who live in London (10.4%), and least common among those who live in the south west of England and Scotland (4.4% in both)
  • people living in areas with higher levels of socio-economic deprivation had a higher rate (8.9%) of previous infection than those who live in more affluent areas of the country (6.1%)
  • the rate of previous infection was higher among people of Black (11.3%) and South Asian (9.0%) ethnicity than among those of White ethnicity (6.9%)

... and, from the main report

So, though not totally conclusive, there is reasonably solid evidence to support the theory that Black and South Asian people are, even taking into account socio-economic factors, at higher risk of being infected than White people.

We need to learn how to do things sensibly and at a distance. Bringing back restrictions is short-sighted and short-termism. People are getting fed up and that was inevitable.

We need the messaging to be about keeping your distance, not staying at home. People have become complacent and irresponsible. There are still plenty of things we can do sensibly and without too much infringement on our liberties. We just need to be much more responsible.

So only one family unit in these establishments at a time?
I think they mean per gathering so family a can have a table socially distanced from family b, family c, etc. is this nationwide... I'm eager to swerve a company shin dig (madness) which will have a mix of people.

As you say, a lot is down to individuals. It's pretty much second nature for me to move to the side on a walk or something now.

That being said, it genuinely shocks me how many are hellbent on not moving from the centre of the path. It's insane.

If you don't know it's true, maybe take less joy in your anecdotal crap that will spread prejudice.

Now I know you are just being uppity about things.

You know , ignoring the I don't know if it's true line

Calm down lol
It’s really quite simple:

Restaurants/pubs/shops = social distancing happens.

Inside someone’s house? Not so much.

It really doesn't make sense , especially as you can socially distance within a house. There's no rhyme or reason behind it , as much as you want there to be.

I'll tell you why they are saying that, because they want you to go and spend your money despite saying there is a risk. That's the top and bottom of it, they want you in shops and pubs handing over your cash but half arse the actual rules on who you can see.
You ignore scientific evidence but believe something Sally from work tells you. Makes sense I guess.
Again I said I have no idea if it's true.

It was said to me about 3 weeks ago as well, something I paid no attention to at the time until I log onto here and see EVERYONE talking about it.

Well obviously not all pub patrons adhere and not all people in private don’t adhere. Just based on what I’ve seen. You’re more likely to get bollocked flaunting the rules whilst having a meal than by your auntie in the garden.

Sure there has been some scientific research that alcohol reduces social inhibition's... But you know, its 2020 Tory Government , it a whole new world, Vodka and Brawndo all round me thinks.:drunk:

I never said you can't social distance indoors I just suggested people are less likely to in private. Just go on Facebook, IG, anything and you'll see pics and videos of people you know hanging out with others not keeping the 2 metres. My own family and friends are terrible for it but there's no point saying anything to them.
