We're not nearly at the end game stage. This is just the beginning. Any semi rational person should understand that trying to slow down the spread is the only feasible strategy right now. The goal is to buy time to learn more about the virus and develop a vaccine and appropriate medication to minimise complications. And even more urgently - to flatten the curve enough to allow healthcare systems around the world to cope. Otherwise, they will simply collapse and millions of people coronavirus positive or not will die for no good reason.
Yes, herd immunity is a big part in defeating viruses. And pandemics do come in waves, exactly for the reasons you folks mentioned. Therefore it's very possible that the cooldown we're seeing in Asia is temporary. But, trying to gain some control over this undoubtedly very dynamic situation instead of encouraging apocalypse is a no brainer.
