I was told by my GP a few years ago, that Vitamin D was the only thing seriously worth considering paying for and taking in supplemental form.
So I'm glad I took his advice.
I have seen a few academic papers on the correlation.
It does seem worth the benefit of taking Vitamin D generally in any case, provided its safe to do so in individual circumstances.
A focused diet can help too if you eat plenty of:
Salmon and Mackerel (especially wild-caught).
Tuna and Sardines, fresh better but tinned is OK if not flavoured in sauce.
It is worth knowing your fish though.
