I find it funny that everyone flaps about wearing masks whilst ignoring the thought that people aren't sick in the first place.

If you want to implement the rule 4 months afterwards then fine, it's ridiculous and shows the ineptitude of the government.

But don't be surprised when healthy people are a little resistant to being treated like plague carriers

Wearing a mask for shops, to me, can barely be classed as a hindrance. We've gone soft as a race if people are moaning about wearing a little mask every now & again.

I think its selfish people who think they are treated as plague carriers.

Unselfish people realise we have a real chance of minimising further outbreaks in the build up to autumn and winter by complying with a pretty easy thing to do.

Put simply, if this thing cant spread, it wont.

Even after the virus has been controlled though.

That's the issue I have with it. If you told me I couldn't go anywhere without a mask back in march, no issue from me there. However 4 months later and at a specific date as well is just weird to me.

For what it's worth I don't believe it's got anything to do with controlling the virus and more paying lip service to people concerned they are being told to go out again.

We should be given a choice in my opinion. Because people will take that choice as they have done for months. It's the principle that I don't need a mask 3 months ago but I do now. I don't need one in Asda today but I do next week?

Even you guys must see the silly aspect of that?

Well firstly, I think the specific date for wearing masks was more to give people a chance to actually get hold of one in time.

Secondly, if it helps stop the spread, what's the issue? If given a choice people won't wear one because they're a bunch of snowflakes that like to go against common sense.

Not really. Cos its not silly.

In the same way the shops were given a date they could reopen, why folk were given a date that masks were needed on public transport. Its so they could prepare for it. Same when/if we are told to wear a mask in a shop.

And it isnt under control, yet.

Having the virus under control is not a “once and done” thing though. Lots of US states thought they had it under control and started opening up - see Florida for example.

Masking does seem to help in keepIng the virus controlled and is a much easier/cheaper alternative to lockdowns.

And yes, you should have been wearing a mask to Asda 3 months ago but we know more about the virus now than we did then so I don’t see why it has much bearing on the here and now. Doctors once advertised cigarettes!

I suspect there is a strong element of getting people back doing stuff though. On the few forays I've taken on public transport in recent weeks, the trains have been both pretty quiet, and completely un-policed. I haven't seen a guard once, and certainly no one to make sure you were wearing a face covering. Contrast that with the couple of ferry trips I've been on, and they had a bloke going round not only making sure people were wearing a covering, but that they were wearing it properly. As a result, all were, which wasn't the case on the train.

When we all getting this vaccine then?

Sounds safe enough to sack off phase 3 of the trial and just give us all it.

If we are sound then you know its worked, if we all grow a 3rd testicle you know not.

Wearing a mask in the shops is hardly that much of an inconvenience.
I'd be fairly certain that those who won't wear a mask when asked to, would be the same ones that would wear a mask if they were told not to.
