Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

I had a meltdown with a bellend in Tesco the other day when he totally ignored social distancing and leaned right across me to place some fruit on a weighing scale, I can’t type on here what I said but my daughter stopped me from probably getting a ban from the store
I think we have reached a situation now where, because the vast majority haven’t caught it, and the predicted Armageddon didn’t arrive, they’ve reached the conclusion that they can now go around in normal (pre 2020) fashion. Saw a group of about 10 teenagers hanging around outside our local Asda yesterday, they clearly have a mindset of “we’re immune”.

But the last time Italy for example hit the daily figure we have today was back in May.

We were meant to be 2 weeks "ahead" of them.

I just find the people who say we haven't seen an increase due to the protests, people going the beach and the pubs being open are wrong and its reflected in the small decreases we are seeing compared to countries who dealt with it properly.

We are seeing some revisions with cases unfortunately, officially on today’s figures there were 398 new cases but there were also 842 historical corrections on cases

It's funny, I watched Čapek's Bila Nemoc the other day, and the dictator character (widely believed to be Hitler) wanted everyone infected with the deadly virus chucked into a camp.

Quite the visionary was Čapek.
My god! I’ve just googled it and read through the plot synopsis...The point I found poignant was the fact that the dictator assumed the youth were not susceptible and that it was just too bad that the older people would die(how sad, never mind...).

Visionary is a very apt description

not many round here do either

Shame that, it's not really the thread for it, but I grew up in a mixed ( White / Asian ) area and the vast majority got on pretty well and, while not totally understanding each others cultures, were pretty tolerant of our differences.

Is the thinking in your neck of the woods that the Asian community is the cause of the COVID problems you're having locally ?

It's weird. We have only had 490 cases out of 95000, so there isn't really a problem as such.

But everybody thought it would happen here as per the reasons I have said.

We also have a big eastern European population living in small crowded terraced houses.

To the cockwombles repeatedly using gleeful smiley face emoticons in this thread; show some respect. People have lost loved ones due to this pandemic. Shameful behaviour.

Theres a fella wishing death on all the fat people.

And another recruiting for the BNP in Blackburn.

And you choose smiley face emoticons to be your hill to die on?

There's a certain amount of gallows humour in the thread mate.

On the whole, it's just a coping mechanism to help deal with a world which is currently very fooked up, I doubt anyone means any harm by it, so best to try not to take it to heart.

Yeah they can 'koff too.

Unbelievable how insensitive some people can be.

Nobody thinks its funny mate.

But we have lived this for over 3 months now, with no end in sight, a touch of humour is needed for us all, yeah maybe not the right thread, but sadly, life goes on.

56 million people die each year, there's only so much compassion a human can show.

Fair enough. There's a couple of WUMs in here that are taking things way too far imo.

I'm a bit upset today as I spent an hour last night Facetiming my sister who was in bits as her mother-in-law has just died from Covid, she can't attend the funeral with her husband as she's not well herself.
