Seems fairly obvious he is put out at having to make sacrifice to protect a 'tiny minority' and comes across as having a problem with that. If I have misunderstood that then fair enough.Dosent make sense what your saying? Your highly vunerable so you shield and stay out of harms way
tea drinker is a fitness freak so can go about his Buisness as he sees fit?
whats the problem?

I wouldnt bank on people always doin the right thing, look after you and yours best you can and then hope for the best is how i look at itSeems fairly obvious he is put out at having to make sacrifice to protect a 'tiny minority' and comes across as having a problem with that. Part of the problem is people having that frame of mind. If somebody has a problem with making a short term sacrifice to protect others then they are, in my opinion, an arsehole.
Again, if I have misunderstood that then he has my sincere apologies![]()
I had a meltdown with a bellend in Tesco the other day when he totally ignored social distancing and leaned right across me to place some fruit on a weighing scale, I can’t type on here what I said but my daughter stopped me from probably getting a ban from the storeYeah I know but the people in the supermarket who ignore the one way system and literally climb over you to get at things really wind me up.
Its only been like 17 weeks or something yet some still don't get it.
I'll wear a covering but I really hope this is a short term thing. It shouldn't become the long term norm.
I`ve just spend three nights in the Lake District, staying in two different pubs and eating in another two pubs and it would take me too long to explain how seriously every business in the area of the Lakes I was in, is taking all this.
Ffs, I got a takeout cup of tea from a farm shop and I had to sign a contract tracing form !!!!!
At the same time the sense of relief that tourists were back was palpable.
Some of these business`s in effect are the " major " employers for isolated rural communities and if they`d have remained shut over the Summer, some of these communities would`ve effectively been wiped out in one go.
During 3 nights and two days, I didn`t see a single person behaving in anyway irresponsibly and that included social distancing on some very busy pathways up the fells.
Where you stay lad, ive just booked a few nights in Kendal for Sept.

Sorry to hear this mate, my stepson has also had to sheild for his own protection. He suffers from some kind of arthritic psoriasis so has to inject powerful meds’ once a month to enable him to walk or to use his hands without pain, but yeah, tea drinker can’t have a pint yannoSorry you feel that way mate. I've been shielding at home for about 14 weeks (maybe longer, not even sure now). I am not fat nor terminally ill. I had a double lung transplant 13 years ago so I am high risk. Is you being able to go the pub, shops, cinema or whatever really more important than my life? Obviously I do not know how exactly I could be affected but I don't really want to find out if I can help it.
I've hardly had the time of my life and wish I could go where I want to go. My 'freedoms' have been restricted more than yours have (unless you are also shielding..?).

I actually agree with your dad. If this was going to be years then there is no way I could sit here and tell everyone to not go out etc to protect my health as that is just not doable nor would I want people to do that.Anytime I find myself feeling ultra depressed regarding the lockdown I try and remember that there's a lot of people out there who are vulnerable and very at risk and that hopefully things get better soon.
Anecdotally though I will add that my dad, who is considered vulnerable, has said that the thought of people missing out on potentially years of their lives to protect people like himself is something that he personally doesn't agree with in the long term. I'm not saying his opinion is right, but I'd be interested to know how many of those deemed vulnerable and of a certain vintage (he's mid 60's and "done it all" in his words) feel similar.
It's obviously impossible to put a timeframe on things but I do think if you look at the gloomiest of forecasts (no successful vaccine as an example) then there will come a point where questions will have to be asked about how long things can go on for in this state. How much time can pass before it's no longer a short term sacrifice?
The time for those questions isn't after four months though.
