Her aim was a low tax society where people without family could go f themselves if they couldn’t contribute To the economy.

I'm sure I'll be corrected, but I thought the context for the discussion was around people not willing to wear a mask because it wasn't their problem? Nowhere in the speech you've quoted does Thatcher advocate not giving two hoots about those around you. Quite the opposite.

She's basically saying that society thrives when we ourselves look to do our best for us, our families, our neighbours, and our community, rather than relying on the government to do it all on our behalf. The only place in that speech that she advocates "dog-eat-dog" is when the left willfully misinterpret it.

Not passing comment on her politics at all, merely that the accusation labelled against her in that phrase is disproven by her about two sentences later in the same speech. It's lazy.

Easy though isn't it? Guys like Dennis Skinner represented their post-industrial communities for nearly 50 years, with half of that time represented by a lack of any operating mine. What has that community got to show for his efforts? A Sports Direct warehouse. Considering that 4 years after the mine shut, the country had a Labour government for the next 13 years, alongside a local Labour MP and a Labour run council, what has gone wrong for communities like that to not only lurch towards Brexit, but the bloody Tories!
