Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

I'd prefer if we used this thread to remind ourselves about just how truly evil snails are. Especially as it's raining.

I've been here a number of years now, and the community has always pulled together for members in need. It's hard to imagine a more pressing time than this, so just showing support is the least we can do I'd have thought.

Is UK still keeping academic institutions open?

I can see Ireland following France and Spain, and shutting all public places and buildings with exception of vital shops, pharmacies, fuel stations etc.

Travel probably restricted to going to these and to work if still open.

37 new cases today- highest daily jump do far and a second death RIP.

All Masses cancelled this evening and tomorrow in many places. Even our small village church which would usually have well under 100 has cancelled.

There are about 300 working in our office building- surely it must close. 2 entrances used by staff.

When do you think mate? They may announce it tomorrow as people and businesses will already be prepared not to be open on Tuesday it may be the easiest transition.

This idea that you can take on the projected influx of Covid sufferers, while dealing with the demands of a normal week, is frankly ludicrous.

You will be overwhelmed, patients will be on the doorstep and you know it. Stop blagging. This isn't fear mongering it's facing the obvious. And the sooner we face it, the sooner we can sort this mess out.

Most nations are completely ill-prepared for this scenario. Who wouldn't be, it's exceptional. Responsibility starts with the individual. Voluntary self isolation, whether you are elderly or in your prime.

People aren't stupid and they certainly don't need the state lying to them. When this passes, which it will. It won't be because government like superman, came to the rescue. It will be because individuals made responsible, sensible choices.

Maybe a better use of this thread would be to ensure that @Joey66 @Barnfred 55 @Old Blue 2 and the various other older members of the community have the support they need?
Bloody hell Bruce I'm not a 'kin dinosaur you know.lol

Having said that, I have just found out I have a mild asthma condition, and the missus is still smarting from a 6 week course of radiotherapy for breast cancer, so we are both taking the matter seriously. We're not exactly self isolating as we both have part time jobs down here, but we have pretty much stopped going out to pubs and restaurants.

It's an excellent idea.

If i can be of assistance to anyone in South London let me know.

I'm happy to bring shopping, fight snails, infect your family, take your family to the hospital, keep you company, service you sexually, cook, get your meds.

But seriously, happy to help.

Likewise.

Starting to freak out a little out here. They're setting up road blocks to stop people leaving the town I live in. We only have one shop and it's fully out of fresh food. No doubt next delivery will cause chaos. I also can't see how 15 days of quarantine will make this go away. I feel like I'm in some sort of disaster movie at the moment. I'm borderline really relaxed, borderline freaking out.
