Handing money out to Covid19 incubators is not a great move. We are nowhere near safe enough in terms of infection rates to be doing that, and encouraging more to frequent these businesses is going to ramp up infections. In what way is that 'trying to get life back to normal'?

The "normal" I qualified with a comment.

But the reality is that unless you are fortunate enough to be still being paid for doing nothing, or have a financial position that means you dont have to work, the economy has to be eased open for everyone else.

This thing isnt going away. We just have to work around it, as Dr JVT said we would have to do months ago.

Local spikes are inevitable, we saw 3 last weekend. Thats the new normal. Unless you can stay at home and still get paid.

That's not true. That sector could be mothballed and people kept on furlough and rates paid for by HM Government to preserve them for people who own them. That could be done if the type of cash that's being spread about now was focussed that way instead of stuffing billions in the pockets of builders firms to insulate homes, for example.

The economic v health argument has been won though: health will be cast aside to get a few quid in.

What sector? Hospitality? Till when?

This virus is going no where any time soon.

I totally understand concerns and argument against opening up , I’m not saying I wholeheartedly agree but it’s a perfectly reasonable standpoint .

spivs though , we’re including independent restauranteurs and pub owners who’ve skinted themselves to continue paying staff their full wages through this pandemic . I’m not talking about the likes of tim Martin or the pub investment group but people that have scrimped to ensure the staff get full wages . Or the ones who set up community hubs feeding the vulnerable or essential workers some delivering supplies . You know people actually doing stuff to support the staff or local communities rather than shout murderers , chavs or scum at people .

the demonisation and abuse of sections of the community wouldn’t be out if place coming from political extremists.

How would you guys and girls feel if the wearing of masks became mandatory in all public places?

I have no truck for those who want us to remain lockdown forever, as the bitter one seems to want.
