I don’t trust them. I think that it was a poorly thought out idea. I don’t like the idea of centralised data as I think there are privacy issues and once the data is there it’s there. I especially don’t agree with who was given the contact to develop the app and the fact it didn’t go to tender. The technology existed already and the sooner we have it in place the sooner we can move into lockdown.

I have many problems with it. Especially trust. That being said, I would have still downloaded it because it would be for the greater good. Despite my fears and reservations, personally.
Fair enough. I apologise for making a wrong assumption.

My understanding was that it was given to NHSX to arrange. That was probably where they made the mistake as their track record is not great.

And being in the middle of a crisis is sufficient validation for not going through normal tender proceedings

I appreciate that. But just because I have personal feelings about something doesn’t mean that I won’t consider others.

In the same way I’d be better off personally voting conservative. But I believe there should be better wealth distribution and I think trickle down economics is a load of rubbish. So happy to take a hit. Same concept really.
All fair comment

Also a local co-op store on Anglesey has shut today following corona outbreak amongst staff

I’ve been offered to stay on on work for another 8 days .... sorely tempted

I think this will be the picture moving forward. Local out breaks, which can be isolated and hopefully contained. Doesnt make it less worrying for the locals, but that is what happened with the one we had down here.

They've only been around about a year, but the personnel doesn't inspire confidence. The head of digital, for instance, is the boss of the south London AHSN, and the AHSNs are generally speaking bloody hopeless. Her academic background is English literature. The 'director of innovation' is an NHS lifer, which given how poor innovation is generally across the NHS. The CEO was a former ambassador to Israel who somehoworother got cybersecurity gigs.

It's not exactly a crack team for what is supposed to be the crack unit in terms of digital.

Blimey. I know the NHS isnt really part of the Civil Service, but it is a little bit, sort of. @peteblue has a point I guess.
