Mate, I've been up there with the rest of you in my criticism of the Tories as regards the Cummings debacle, which is what I assume you are referring to. But at the end of the day that one act doesn't absolve every other person in this country of personal responsibility.

If people continue to use that as an excuse to do what they want for evermore we all might as well just pack up and go home.
'The people' aren't, imo, although I'm sure some are deciding according to what's in their personal interest rather than that of the collective.

It's not just that one particular episode, mixed confusing messages have been coming from the executive with gay abandon.

the government allow free movement with the lockdown and tell people they can go anywhere they want and they flock to beaches , they allow the fast food places to open and people line up in the drive through to buy a burger and they open the non-essential shops and people queue to buy trainers or cheap clobber and in every case people seem to go apoplectic or at least sneery about It .

if these places shouldn’t be open then lobby the government and the PM and tell them not to open . If they’re allowed to open or travel freely then they’ve every right to do so . It’s not people’s fault if they do what they’re allowed to do . It like shouting at people for doing 40 in a 40 when there is an accident , they’re doing nothing wrong , if the speed is dangerous then change the limit .
I really don't get this. My post was about socially distancing. You can do all these things and still respect social distancing. The vast majority of the people in this country do. The vast majority of the people have been doing that today around the country in the opening of none essential retail, with the exception (that I've seen so far) of this one shop.

The governments message on social distancing has been clear and constant. They have not said that young people can go to raves in their thousands. They have said that they can demonstrate, but if they do keep to groups of 6. I questioned young peoples apparent change in attitude to social distancing. I was not being either apoplectic or sneery about it. If you think I was at least have the decency to do so in direct response to my post rather than 1 post down the chain.

Today, its been announced there were zero cases between Friday and Sunday just gone, in North Somerset, and 17 across the South West. (Includes Gloucester, Cheltenham, Bristol and Bath).
That's good isn't it mate? Given that there have been around 10,000 new infections (tested positive not estimated infections) across the whole of the UK during the same period.

Oh its sound as mate. As you know, down here its largely passed us by, which is why the outbreak at Weston was a concern.

For what it's worth, the UK has been downgraded from the high risk group to the medium risk group by the Czech government today, leaving Sweden, Portugal and the Silesian region of Poland as the areas in the high risk category. We're in the medium risk group along with Belgium, with the rest of Europe in the low risk group, and therefore free to travel without requiring any negative covid tests.

Portugal? Thought they had done well according to Dave.

No idea to be honest mate. I have always had the feeling that the Czechs do this themselves rather than using an EU-wide rating system, and I'm not aware that they've published their workings. It was in the news that they've opened up a whole bunch of flights though (albeit mainly within the EU), and it's no longer mandatory to wear masks in public there.

Wooah mate relax . I wasn’t really looking to have a row. Im not even sure I took in your post never mind saw it . I saw the post I replied to so I replied . I’m not so frightened of confrontation with a bloke on the internet j came up with the foolproof plan of quoting a reply to you to throw you off the scent .

people should be social distancing, my point and in reference to the poster I discussed And with the general head shaking over people being out . It reminds me of the police saying they’d check bags for essential shopping whilst shops continued to sell non-essential shopping .

I’ve zero idea on a answer to this crisis , zero and I find myself mentally flick flacking through various viewpoints . However ,and this often manifests itself in anger towards the government , my frustration is it seems those in power feel the same as me . They are neither on nor out and that means finger pointing from all sides .

as regards young people I’ve absolutely no doubt they’re fed up. this disease can kill young people but if you’re a healthy youngster you’re almost certainly going to be ok and you’ve been effectively locked in the House for months with your parents . I picture myself at that age and factor in the fact we’re all absolutely indescribable at that age and I’m not completely unsurprised by the response . Of course they should social distance but so should coppers clapping on a bridge for the nhs ,kitchen staff in takeaways , Congregating deliveroo drivers and just about everybody else . The message is diluted , it just is and if you’re a youngster I’d probably times that by a hundred

Fully agree with your first comment, although that sort of goes against your response to my original post I think.

As regards the second point, communication from the government in general has been pretty poor, but I think they have been pretty clear and consistent as regards the subject of social distancing. What confuses the hell out of me is the different procedures in the different countries. I can't keep up with it all and am just happy I have no intention of travelling to Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland in the foreseeable future.

Fair enough. Sorry I flew off the handle.

Having said that, the post you responded to was a bit of a flippant one line response to a post I made, that was raising a serious question. When you responded agreeing with him and then adding words like apoplectic, can you at least see why I misunderstood it to be a direct reference to my post.
