also masks should be provided free to the public if fines are going to be incurred on public transport.......

Agree with this 100%. There should be a supply made available as you enter all railway stations. Buses are a bit more difficult though but there should be some system of applying for them on line if you're a regular bus traveller.

The government should absolutely make them freely available to employees and staff on the transport network, but I am not sure the public should get them as it would tend to suggest that individuals don’t need to assess whether they need to travel - if you do, chances are you’ve got a mask already. Giving them away might end up making people think travel is safe with one on, so they can go back to normal.

Don't know enough to confirm one way or the other Joey. But I have seen news clips of people around city streets and at entrances to subways handing out face masks with tweezers to passers by. So some countries are doing it. But if we're making it a legal requirement we should be too.

We also need to have some sort of leeway for the asthma sufferers. They can't all be expected to walk around sporting jumpers saying "please don't hit me I have asthma" lol. Not sure what the answer is really.
