Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

The absolutley moronic raction to wearing face coverings in this country is appalling.

"Erm, it wont protect ME if I wear one, so..."

"It's not necessary if you're outside or 2 metres away from people, so..."

FFS, there's 64,000 been killed in this country. Youd think there'd be a bit more responsibility toward each other. But there's a selfish gene been implanted amongst the population here over the last few decades. It's a scally nation.

Just put a 'kin face mask on and help others (and others will help YOU)

I put the thread about it in here earlier Dave, the Spanish government are as bigger liars as Captain Dumbass and his cronies

I don’t know why you keep trusting in the ONS as their reports aren’t even accurate, their data goes as far as two weeks before each report comes out and doesn’t count deaths registered up to the weekend before each release. The 7 day rolling averages give a better indication of how things are
Doubting the Spanish (who had an ACTUAL lockdown to drive down numbers) is for the birds...which is why you've not produced the data.

I can only assume he means that there may need to be a national consistent model for deciding how local lockdown is a) recognised b) escalated c) managed d) managed in different environments (care home vs schools vs trusts).

If it isn't that then Christ knows.
It's illogical. Local regional authorities know their patch better than a national government. It's one of the reasons the Germans have been so successful: the federal government hands health issue autonomy to the various regions of Germany.

Yes but given the response structures are largely chaired by the police as part of a local resilience forum it may be that they want the authority to declare local lockdown given they will enforce it or PHE might want control over the outbreak management rather than LA or community providers for example

Well, I should have mentioned that he (Shapps) stated that it was important to have a "national message" on that score, so maybe that underlines your point.

However, when the murderer Johnson announced the 'stay alert' nonsense message 3 weeks ago it was mooted at the time that local conditions would be a factor in the R-number and that local solutions would be on the table to address that. Now, its seems like back peddling...no doubt under the prerssure of the local chambers of commerce and other scum looking to keep businesses open.

It's probably more down to everyone asking 'whats going on with management of local lockdown?' and there being no Government guidance released to support the decision making.

I'm pretty sure the questions are seen in advance. It makes no sense they'd wing it on a question like that...but then again, sense and this lot are strange bedfellows.

I sense they're being deliberatley vague. Just as they were about face masks until today.

It's not a good look to have announced something that there is no guidance for and local confusion about.

Need to get Dim Dom's contracts sorted first mate. Chill out FFS.

There's something going on with changing methodologies in many governments. But let's not misunderstand the reason behind some people / commentators trying to obfuscate the general trend of a squashing of the curve in other countries: they want to dilute the fact that we have a chronic response to this crisis and they are doing the UK government's bidding for them.
