Imagine my shock

An absolute disgrace. We cannot bring back the dead, nor heal those who may have problems for life, but we should definitely give them the world bill for having to deal with it. If the West let’s them off the hook for this then we deserve everything that will come in the future.......

I can't speak on behalf of other information presented to the committee, but I thought it was interesting in that it doesn't suggest we have a huge amount of wriggle room in terms of infections, despite quite significant 'freedom's being granted.

But isn’t that a point that every other Medic and Scientist is saying anyway....Whitty puts a caveat on the release from lockdown every time he speaks......

Will you do me a favour and keep out of my conversations with other posters...thank you....
Drinking early?

You replied to me when I was replying to @Bruce Wayne
His ‘modelling’, which has been shown to be incorrect many times in the past, has been discredited yet again. @davek ‘s numbers and projections are closer to the reality than his.......

Thanks in advance...

And I didn't. I said that given the advice from HR, I would not be attending unless (as per their advice) there was a necessity for it beyond him deciding it's ok because he doesn't believe in homeworking. For example, if I had to physically demonstrate something to a supplier.

If it were you, who's advice would you follow? Your boss or the people who have written the policy in conjunction with the unions and the government's medical advice?

I hope your issue will be resolved so you can keep your job and work from home. I can empathise, I'm working from home also, and may face a similar situation down the line. I must say to date though there hasn't been any problem with my employer.

Maybe one thought, would it be possible to set up a group phone call involving yourself, HR, and your manager? Don't suggest it to your manager as it may be taken as you trying to go above his head, but could you tease out if your contact in HR could raise it with him?

At the moment it seems like a clash of two very different perspectives. Your manager probably doesn't see anything at all wrong in asking you to come in. But if you could get HR involved indirectly, providing they are understanding of your circumstances, it might just prompt a bit of reasonableness from your manager.

Work is not a democracy and people have to be prepared to take diktats when they dont like them but this is a global pandemic after all, health and lives are at risk. In that context, it isn't outrageous to think that someone might alter their stance when you are already doing an effective job at home.

Institute of Actuaries updated estimates of deaths now at 64,500. This shows an increase of “only” 500 on last week. Further evidence the spread is slowing - thankfully.

You just couldn't make up such deception. Johnson's actions put the UK at level 2/1 so why is Whitty claiming we are at level 4. Doesn't he follow events?

"The decision for England’s official coronavirus alert level to remain at four despite this week’s easing of some lockdown restrictions was made by the chief medical officer, Downing Street has said, indicating he vetoed the government’s wish for it to be lowered.

Prof Chris Whitty’s decision was guided by data provided by the government’s new Joint Biosecurity Centre (JBC), Boris Johnson’s spokesman added".

But Hancock admitted yesterday that it was not up and running,

Joint Biosecurity Centre being pulled together as lockdown ...

"Pressed on whether it exists yet, Mr Hancock replied: “Well, it’s being formulated at the moment, it’s being pulled together, yeah.”

The Covid-19 alert levels system was announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in his televised address to the nation on May 10". Being formulated yesterday but the same report said this,

The Joint Biosecurity Centre – the body tasked with assessing the Covid-19 alert level – is not yet up and running, Matt Hancock has said.

The Health Secretary’s admission comes just hours after Downing Street said chief medical officer for England Professor Chris Whitty and the Joint Biosecurity Centre recently discussed the coronavirus alert level.

The alert level remains at four – which the Government previously said would mean restrictions remain in place – despite the lockdown being eased across England on Monday.

The JBC still formally needs to come into existence
Matt Hancock

Discussing the alert level on Monday afternoon, the Prime Minister’s official spokesman said that Professor Whitty and the centre “worked together on this last week”.

But the level has been lowered. Incredible.

152 deaths reported by the NHS, up 29 on yesterday’s figure, 143 were from England, up 35, with 112 coming from the past 10 days

The latest ONS report has gone only counting deaths that occurred up to 22nd May but many registered to Saturday gone

The contempt they have for us: putting a complete arsehole out like Useless Eustace to deliver their BS for them.

I hear, btw, that the murder-in-chief is sick and tired of these daily updates and is looking to bin them very soon.

'The government has announced there will no longer be televised briefings at weekends, starting this week.
However, the prime minister has committed to taking part in at least one briefing a week, Downing Street said.
There was no mention of changes to weekday briefings.'
