Whatever Boris proposes in parliament would be voted through

Not necessarily, thankfully it's not a dictatorship. I think however we are both agreeing here.

This is a national emergency, framed in the same sense as declaration of war etc. the Prime Minister can't unilaterally agree on the best course. Even though it appears he has. Parliament should have been recalled for an emergency session to debate how best to proceed. Unfortunately that hasn't happened. It's undemocratic and quite frankly unprecedented. Considering the millions that this will affect.

The government have been allowed to proceed so rashly because of the momentum. This can't continue.

This an experiment and the British people are the guinea pigs.

This is not just a problem for the old. Sorry to put it in these terms but what if someone you love, say a parent, has a heart attack and your local hospital is floor to celling full of coronavirus patients and the staff have been in crisis mode for at least a month. The survival rate for that person is going to below normal levels, up to and including they may get the virus while recovering and at their most vulnerable.

By changing your behaviour you can help minimise that spread. If you and everyone who think like that continue with I'm alright Jack, you could find out in a terrible way that is not actually the case. We all have a duty of care, like it or not.
Not to mention all the healthcare workers who will suffer at best overwork and exhaustion, at worst huge viral loads.

We are so used to 24 hour opening here now.

It will come as a huge shock to a few when this changes in the next few weeks.

Hours will be limited to re-stock overnight and with staff off sick, the reliance on self serve etc will make the shopping trip awkward.

I have tried to detail here what has been selling out over the last week or so, but this weekend it's gone mental.

It would be daft not to have 'picked up a few extra bits' for your family as it stands.
Yeah we used to often not have anything to eat or run out of water (can't drink tap water) and just pop to the shop. I guess what we've done is just create a pantry. Imagine going to that shop now. They've already said they are going to limit supermarket opening times here so this may be the new norm. Just glad my wife pushed me to get supplies in.

The bulk buying of bottled water is even more odd than the bog roll purchasing.

Does anyone think Corona will keep mutating until it becomes even more contagious and deadly and basically decimates the global population, bringing about a post-apocalyptic society of survivors who must fight for access to resources?

Exactly, it was what I was trying to get at. You're going to have overworked, stressed and potentially less staff due to sickness.

Mistakes can be made at the best of times, nevermind under these sort of pressures that have been reported in Italy for instance.

Yeah but it isn’t just the work they do that makes them important. As individuals all the ones I know are wonderful in their own right and will self sacrifice their own comfort/health for others so the rest of us social distancing to try and reduce their likely upcoming workload seems a pretty small cost in comparison.

Are people in manufacturing immune? If they get sick, who continues the supply. The armed forces, if that's the case I hope you stacked up.

The supply chain and system for food into the supermarkets is pretty robust mate. (While we are in the single market anyrate). Delays are more likely to happen cos of weather or traffic as it is.
