I also think this priority antibody testing is crap btw - fair enough give priority for actual swab testing for the virus to frontline staff but you cant tell me that it will make any difference if a Nurse tests positive for antibodies or not?

I highly doubt if they dont have antibodies they'll be told to stay off the frontline and make the tea in the staff room - its all hands on deck regardless.

Testing should be rolled out to everyone - the fact they want people to start going shopping and using leisure facilities, public transport in the coming 1-2 months yet wont give us the antibody testing is absolutely crazy.
It's not really about that in this context, it's about understanding the existing spread across the country.

They are mate, but they aren`t the ones that provide the horror stories for the media.

Imagine the alternative headline - " As Temps Soar, Whole Town Obeys Social Distancing and Lockdown Rules "

Not one person would look at it lol
I could see a headline of 'Britain stays safe' or something like that to highlight good practice and put a positive spin on public safety. Although the perpetually outraged would still want someone to be giving the converse.

But why roll it out in the same way of the swab testing?

It feels like the vast majority of us thoroughout this whole process have been told to stay at home and play with yourself if you have symptoms whereas the elite and "key workers" are given priority which is fine in a lockdown setting as the rest of us are at home locked away safe.

But when everything starts to reopen from June 15th as far as im concerned all of us deserve the chance to know if we've had the virus so those who live with vulnerable people know how much "risk" they can take ie. Going on the bus to work is less risky if you know you have antibodies for the virus than having not yet had it.

Capacity is the reason.

I’d say that’s more likely than capacity but it’s the same tests though . The abbot tests that’s been approved, the Roche test is the top one apparently but they’re looking to use both .

I’m speculating but maybe the issue is over whose being tested , whether people subsequently use it as something to Allow them more movement of flexibility.
I don't know the differences in the manufacturer's, but I think I recall Roche being the preferred choice. I think for a lot of the older clinicians, the knowledge that they've already had Corona would put a lot of them at ease, especially as a colleague has died and a departmental colleague just about to be discharged after 3 months.

Therefore, we have test result numbers aren't entirely as they're being described (inflated), test data going missing (locally) and the tracing system a month away...

... from where it will be fully operational. I'm less bothered about how this impacts on Johnson's rhetoric, but more what it means about how we'll manage cases.

With schools and businesses scheduled for reopening before then, we really need a comprehensive system in place to manage the guaranteed rise in cases.

Capacity is the reason.

Surely testing largely folk who have come into contact with COVID-19 positive people in a work setting such as nurses will give disproportionate results though?

If they have say 10 million tests would have made more sense to send them in the post to 10 million random people and record the results.

I definitely get your point, I think it should be available for everyone.
