Really disgusting performance from these guys. Keep Cummings at all cost, sacrificing government trust and subsequent ability to deal with this virus. Utterly abhorrent. Total scumbags.

Its unreal isnt it?

Like, this isnt some scandal or a shagging story; its a national emergency, and not one family in the UK has swerved its effects.

Yet every day, that tool Cummings will dominate the journos questions, when there are actually more important stuff at risk than his career.

edit. His reputation is shredded anyrate.

It's not Furlough, its those that are high risk and had to basically lock down for 12 weeks to protect themselves from this.

Tbh I wonder how prevalent the virus actually is outside of care homes / hospitals at present?

Should numbers continue to dwindle I imagine by the time retail opens up on the 15th June there will be few people infected in the general public.

In perspective there's 67 million+ people in the UK - when you consider the current numbers infected and those who have potentially already had it with or without symptoms I imagine the chances of coming into contact with someone with it will be much lower than before lockdown.

Whereas thanks to the media people think every bugger you go near has it.

If he had an ounce of humility he would have stood down. They’re all lying to us. Crazy times

They have sunk to “if you are worried about your eyesight it is perfectly reasonable to drive 30 miles with your family to test it out” to cover for him - if you can still look at yourself in the mirror each morning after trotting that line out then I’d question where exactly you’d draw the line of behavior you wouldn’t try to excuse.

It is hugely localised. Apparently, the most cases in Gloucester hospital came from a small town called Lydney, and/in the Forest of Dean, cos loads went to Cheltenham, and 2 buses of kids went to a Stereophonics gig a day or so before in Cardiff.

Quite why other towns in and around didnt get a kicking is difficult to understand.

Be interesting to see if there's a similar incident after Cummings' brief in the general public that ends up getting a fine.

Or an historic case where the fine isn't reimbursed.

It's looking hopeful, but the next random survey of the population comes out on Thursday. The scientists will be looking at the results from that, and next weeks as well, to make sure none of the current relaxations, and how people have reacted, have had a negative effect.
