Where is the solidarity exactly in actions which put teachers' needs, and the risks to themselves, ahead of the education of our children and the need for parents to get back to work and revive their income levels. The nurses and doctors haven't prioritised their own needs. Nor have every other sector where economic activity has been continued. Sorry JJ ,and Mozza, the profession has brought the criticism upon itself.

Interesting point.

Nurses and Doctors didn’t sign up for what they’ve had to deal with over the past couple of months but they’ve generally done it without exception.

It's almost like you never actually read my post mate. The teachers aren't prioritising our own needs. We want the kids back as soon as possible when it's safe. But currently what they are suggesting isn't education and you're stupid if you think that's what any child is actually going to get. It will be impossible if they want all primary classes back before the summer holidays if it's like this. We are more concerned about all the children we teach and their families. As you know that's our job.

If the government/councils can somehow give us more space for classes then there won't be a problem but I seriously doubt that will happen. Yes hospitals have been built for this pandemic but think of the amount of schools there are, primary and secondary schools in one town never mind a major city to the few hospitals they have. Every school will have the same issue of space so that is a massive problem to sort out. Hardly the schools fault who have been under funded for years.

Like I said the schools have been waiting on the governments advice yet most of the time we have had barely any guidance whatsoever. Yet we have supposedly brought the blame on ourselves. Makes sense that.

Indeed, it would make perfect sense if this was being aimed at children who are in and about their exams, many would understand urgency round social distancing. However, our youngest, many if not all are just not going understand the nuances round social distancing. Either those advocating have no experience of young children for one reason or other. Maybe the Government have some kind of detachment disorder of young children and their behaviours

Teachers are the latest scapegoats and will be blamed for 1) pupils education suffering, linked to 2) the rise in poverty due to life chances, 3) the hit to the economy because teachers refused to take children in so their parents couldn't go to work, which they'll be blamed for 4) the rise in unemployment and the subsequent 4) economic downturn resulting in 5) austerity that will lead to 6) increased deprivation that will result in 7) back to 1).

'It's all those lazy teachers fault' for not 'acting like heroes' and 'putting their lives on the line and those of their pupils, parents, carers, guardians, grandparents, community etc.

I trust those that work in an educational environment to know what is best for them and their pupils. And it's their recommendations/actions/decisions should be paramount. We only have to see the debacle of the governments care home neglect so see how badly wrong things can get from bad advice and actions.
