Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Im very confused, we didnt get our results back so I rang them up, they said the tests werent registered and all the results were lost.

As soon as I got off the phone I received a text message saying I was negative, not sure if serious.

Anyway, something I suppose.

When me and the missus got our results I thought we'd get them at the same time. Got my result back on the Saturday morning and the missus test result didn't come back until 10pm Sunday evening. Bizarre and was proper stressing waiting for the missus test result taking much longer than mine.

Upon further inspection it seems as tho my daughter missed a vital step, so the whole mess would appear to have been her fault!

So, getting very confused now. Are you and yours Ok? Rona wise.

No idea mate, it seems as tho we are, we know that somebody is negative, at this point we aint sure who due to the whole mess up.

We are working on the assumption that somebody was negative last week when we had the test, which is why I said it was pointless us even having a test.

They just said to take more tests if we want to know for sure, but nobody has any symptoms so we wont be wasting more tests for now.

Thats cleared it right up.

I think.

Wasn’t my interpretation, seemed to be an honest attempt to make sense of the data

I dont understand his need to compartmentalise to the nth degree the excess total deaths - in one way or another the vast majority will be Covid19-related.

It's that type of finessing of figures that can be used to 'add context' to the rank performance of the UK Government.

Aren't they normally up towards 6/700 mate as they include the lag from the weekend. Thursday/Friday figures are probably more reliable. If tomorrow's was below 500 that would be good. Not that good is a word you'd want to use in association with deaths.

We also need to see the new infections coming down quickly too. I'm hoping it will be below 3000 today

You could be right mate, I had a picture of in the 400s in my mind for some reason.

I thought he was saying the opposite. He’s saying excess deaths are more likely to be covid related than ‘lockdown’ related as most of the excess deaths are in the most vulnerable groups rather than those younger.
Is he? He appears to be addiing too much complexity if he's saying that.

Let's just call them Covid19 or Covid19 related. This year is the abnormality...and what's happening now that wasn't happening in previous years?

Ergo: they're all down to Covid19, or pretty much.

Its just so confusing isnt it?

Like, and this sounds awful but I think you will get what I mean. It seems that in an awful lot of cases, Covid has accelerated a death for folk already under the pump, health wise. But then we are told that the "expected" death rate is way higher than normal.

So will that mean that the "expected" death rate come the winter will be lower cos Covid has done a number on many already?

And I get a bit queasy comparing country to country. We have no idea how others count, and with some, we have no idea if they are even telling the true story.

I guess we all just have to live our lives as best we can, and see what the picture is when it emerges.

Yes. His point is that deaths directly associated with lockdown have been low. He’s saying that the deaths there have been are in older people and more likely to be from covid (but not reported).

his point is that lockdown in itself hasn’t caused excess deaths (I’d read suicide, accidental deaths, car crashes etc).

He’s in favour of lockdown, essentially.
