I appreciate that. A mate of mine was supposed to be working in a number of EU countries but has basically been told everything is shut until September. Unless he is struck down or we make a complete arse of our own economy he will find a way.....hope it goes well for you....

We'll be fine mate, we've been running the place for something like 20 to 25 years, so have a fair amount of retained profits held in the business for rainy days. Most of the contract lads and lasses we use have been on good money and have done much the same, so they'll ride it out without too much pain.

New businesses don't have that to fall back on though.

Must just be my townsfolk running around like headless chickens. I did manage to purchase a couple of tins of mackerel which I will wash down with copious amounts of alcohol before embarking on a midnight looting spree.

No Potatoes though...just WTF!!
My store has now sold out of eggs.
Baby milk and nappies running low.
A full lorry of bog roll filled every shelf at 12pm and it's now all gone.
We will get restocked again easily enough overnight, but people are genuinely worried and buying stuff to stay indoors now it would seem.

Prepare to be vaulted Pete - it's gonna get ugly.

Just got back from the co-op and the shelves are bare! No bread, no eggs, no butter, no pasta, no tinned stuff left. Loads of alcohol though...Happy days!

See you on the other side!

That’s why we need people to keep on working or there will be sod all for anyone. If you get there I’ll be the one with the royal blue wings sat at the corner of St Pete’s bar......

I always thought in the face of great adversity the British people would do more than buy toilet roll.

Seems like we were pretty lucky to build that empire.

Yup I'm getting that impression. People are bulk buying and locking their doors. Which in the grand scheme seems to be a smart move.

Panic buying in Ireland has gone crazy
One big electrical shop has sold 691 chest freezers in a week
Normally sells 15-20

A failure to centralise command for this crisis into central government. Put it on a wartime footing. That IS happening in places like S.Korea.

If this were the Second World War, Johnson and Hancock would be Chamberlain and Lord Halifax. Appeasers.
De Piffle's Blitz spirit seems to consist of :
We shall die on the beaches
We shall die in the fields, and in the streets
We shall die in the hills
We shall surrender

Well my local Sainsburys shows no sign of panic buying, other than the national pastime of buying bog roll.

I went to a pub related supplier today to pick up a few supplies, they had commercial sized toilet rolls coming out of their ears....when people stop panicking everything will settle down....

That really depends on your personal circumstances.

At the moment, the NHS is coping, so, if you're not in a risk group, it wouldn't be the end of the world if you got infected. Assuming you're then reasonably OK and not infectious a few weeks later, you would hope that you've got some level of immunity, wouldn't get infected again, and so would be in a position to help out any of your family and friends who are in high risk groups.

As I type that, I understand the logic, but going about life normally with that scenario in mind is much easier said than done.
