Take into account that they nearly all work past their hours and work through their unpaid breaks then a lot do earn less than £8.50 an hour.
Not really. It's been pretty devastating and exacerbated by oversight and lack of preparation and lowered priority. However, it may be right that it hasn't affected the majority. But it's really a nothing point, because it's affected enough for it to be significant.
I'll check in a little bit. But I'm pretty sceptical about the claim.

Definitely hotspots then. Missus works in care and says the vast majority round here have had deaths....and she still lacks confidence that there is a desire to accurately record all Covid deaths.
She's always rolled her eyes when I've had a cynical explanation for things, not conspiracy theory stuff, but the deliberate manipulation of facts and bodging of figures that goes on to paint a rosier political picture.
She's definitely more cynical now. Not an outright cover up but she certainly feels that there is some wilful ignorance at play.

I am fully behind the cock up rather than conspiracy theory. Which as nothing like this has occurred in the UK in living memory, coinciding with some pretty rubbish social care provision, (and rubbish politicians all round) aint exactly too difficult to conclude.

But he did manage to bring attention to what has turned out to be a catastrophic issue. That day also showed the true face of some Conservatives when that dreadful woman was laughing at Morgan even if he was being obtuse. She is THE Care Minister and it was right for him to ask her if there was any truth in those headlines.
I can't stand the guy btw but in my eyes he was the only voice of dissent when there was clearly a disaster of epic proportions unfolding in front of us.
That's the first time I've seen front-line workers equated to the rich. Pretty sure some of the peasants I've seen sat around in the sun having a barbeque and drink are on a bit more than most front line workers. Even on 80%.

The Government forgets the majority of us still have to be around folk be it out shopping and in public etc.
I get the feeling unless you are a key worker or a politician/rich you wont ever be given the chance of a test.
Wish you could just buy one privately at a reasonable price independently rather than waiting to be given one by Boris.
