Our factory in Dublin never closed
Made a load of changes how we operate initially
However 7 weeks later changes still being made as things evolve and new ideas being put forward
They can well afford all the changes and costs but a lot of smaller less profitable factories in smaller plants will find it hard to operate in the new conditions

Exactly the same with ours, we do the flu vaccine and as you say, it's still a learning curve.

But he did manage to bring attention to what has turned out to be a catastrophic issue. That day also showed the true face of some Conservatives when that dreadful woman was laughing at Morgan even if he was being obtuse. She is THE Care Minister and it was right for him to ask her if there was any truth in those headlines.

I can't stand the guy btw but in my eyes he was the only voice of dissent when there was clearly a disaster of epic proportions unfolding in front of us.

Thought he showed himself right up if I am honest.

But even so, I do agree that the care home fatalities/PPE/everything needed to be highlighted.

My old fella had kidney failure. Refused to go on dialysis until no choice but to go into hospital. A few weeks in there and must have decided he’d had enough. He was unconscious and they put him on dialysis, at some point he came around long enough to realise what was happening and proceeded to try to pull the needle out apparently. I was in the next day and a doctor was in the ward telling me that they would try again the next day. Now I’m a mild mannered chap and it wasn’t the obviously under pressure doctors fault but I just shouted can you not hear the man, he can’t breathe. We were ushered to a room and twenty minutes later told to expect the worst within 24 hours, which duly happened. Sometimes I think we put too much pressure on health professionals to keep things going when there is no hope and let’s be honest it’s usually for us rather than the patient.
Sorry to hear about your old fella mate, They do tend to air on the side of keeping you alive at all costs when quality of life to me is more important than just staying alive.
My misses has refused any more Chemo as the last lot nearly killed and she has since signed a DNACPR sheet which means she is not to be resuscitated if she cant live without support. It was her decision and I have to respect it.

My dad had esophageal cancer
He got treated with Chemotherapy an drugs and went into remission .
Said it was hell on earth
He recovered enough to play pitch and putt and go for a few pints
It came back as liver cancer and he was told
6 months with treatment ,6 weeks without
He took the 6 weeks and got all his affairs in order
Had a fairly normal 4 weeks and then 3 weeks in hospital
Said the treatment was not worth the extra 4 months
Sorry to hear that mate, He was right though quality over quantity ever time

Anti-body tests: I get the impression that the government have gone quiet on this today either A/ because they are haggling with Roche (or have a UK connected / Tory donor connected) supplier they'd rather go with; or B/ they'll face competition to procure them in vast numbers and this lot have proven what a bunch of clowns they are on that score already with PPE and earlier antibody tests.

Think some commentators could well remember that.

Not like this happened last year as well.

Agree to a certain extent, myself personally think that we should have learned a lot more from Italy and Spain's experience's. Italy actually told us, this will be you in a short time. We should have shut down a lot earlier look at Germany, much bigger population.

Pretty sure the Deputy Med Officer (forgotten his name) said they would be getting them into use as soon as practically possible.

Now we dont know how quick that actually will be and it could well be longer than we'd all expect. But I dont think it's right to say it's gone quiet. He literally talked about it in the press conference.

From https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52662066

One in 400 people in England has the Covid-19 virus, a survey of nearly 11,000 people in households suggests.

They were asked to carry out swab tests over the two weeks up to 10 May.

This indicates about 148,000 people in England could be currently infected - 0.27% of the population.

Even if you count people in hospitals and care homes it will still be a bit less than the 25% someone mentioned earlier!

Given where we are on the curve, I'd guess that means that 20 to 25 times that number have been infected, so, give or take 0.5 million, about 3.3 million, which is roughly 5% of the adult population

there are potentially hundreds of interfering substances from drugs to stuff in your body, a proper threshold has to be established for pos/neg etc. this takes months/years of studies to get right. all this rapid @#$% is garbage.

Care home data here. Obviously comes with some caveats.

Effectively around 36% reported an outbreak since recording. You can break the figures down by region which is quite useful as it shows you what the scales of the outbreak is across a particular patch. But, like any stats, the percentage is higher in pockets than the national average would suggest. 41% in NW whereas London more like 50%

...but it seems to have got the thumbs up from EU authorities and the UKs.

But it wasn't the bells and whistles of early April when this was seen as a game changer.

To me that has alarms ringing. They either want Roche sidelined (because they haven't moved to buy from them) or they know they;ll face competition...and, ironically for a bunch of nobheads who talk a good fight about Britain's commercial and diplomatic links and prowess in the market place, they know they'll end up at the back of the queue.

On this (antibody tests) I expect no more than what they've done so far: anything that could make them look like the utter helmets they are will be swerved for as long as possible.

Forget who was talking about tangential consequences this morning, but given we've spoken about schools opening etc. Our trust sent round an email today warning of potential issues with measles, mumps and all that. Despite the vaccines still being available, and the environment being as safe as possible, parents are spooked so have stayed away in droves, thus leaving a whole bunch of kids without any immunity to diseases that can do a lot more harm to them than covid.

We should all rally together and stop this politicking and focus on solutions!!

Doesn't apply if you're Nadine Dorries. Ironic from a health Minister with 'stay alert' in her Twitter bio
