Which is why it's a waiting game as people who don't have symptoms can carry it.

South Korea got the virus the same time as Italy. Similar numbers of infection. SK went all out in testing and containing areas. Death toll - 67.

Italy only tested people in areas with symptoms and not people who didn't have symptoms who ended up carries. Death toll 1000.

And the current advice in the UK is......stay home, don't even ring the non-emergency helpline that was made just for this kind of advice. We're not actually testing unless you've been knocked out by it for 7 days.

And some people still claim that framing a political argument around this to criticise the Governments health care policy over the last 10 years is abhorrent cynical opportunism.

Some people dont understand that though

Can't really get on my high horse with that one. I was one of those people for a long time!

It's horrible.

I used to think I had it and would go to work with a pocketful of pills and powders and power through it. Achey limbs and a bad head but I got through.

Then I got it properly one year and realised I'd never actually had it proper and fortunately I've never had it proper since. Those adverts for Lemsip and the like make me laugh, there's no way that stuff alleviates it enough to do anything.
It was proper curl up in a ball and hope stuff

It was the worst thing I've had, even two months after i wasn't right playing footy and other things (or I've always been that crap)
I thought the same until I got the cancer diagnosis two months later (unrelated.) Happy to say that after an "interesting" year, I'm all clear.

Counting my blessings, washing my hands, and enjoying the pleasures of home. Working on some etchings of Diego Simeone. :)

There are now cases in my little town. And what is troubling is the ratio of confirmed to undetected cases is very very low. The CDC count of cases in the USA is 1200 or so, but this is likely off by an order of magnitude already. If there are 1200 confirmed cases, there are likely 10000 undetected cases. Scary for those who are immunocompromised, older, or asthmatic.

It's mad when people say they've got the Flu but are powering on day to day, I think I've had it maybe 3 times at most in life. It's absolutely debilitating, on the plus side you get ace fever dreams.

A lot of S Korea’s cases were linked to a mega church that had a lot of young women. Whilst I think the testing and follow up has been fantastic, helped stop the spread and overall helped reduce the fatalities it is hard to think the age profile hasn’t had an impact
