The UK?

Not great is it. But until this all washes through, and it will, and the reality of who counted what and when and for what, becomes clear, all I care about is that the UK as a collective gets better.

Well, I obviously care more about my nearest and dearest, but measuring numbers against other countries to me is pointless.

Absolutely. I look at the charts for trends, and the trends are all pointing in the right direction. I’m sure we will see a large spike in deaths in tomorrow’s charts, but the trend is always down. I’d now like to see someone ask Sturgeon what data is required for her to start out of lockdown......

The majority of workplaces will be a mess. People covering multiple roles and duties. It’s not unique to schools. They’ve got to get on with it and come up with solutions. As front line workers teachers need to do more. The work they been sending to our kids is slap dash drivel mass emailed out with a ‘just do this if you can type attitude. Nothing proactive from them in terms of following anything up.

Disappointing to hear that from your kid's school mate but it is a challenge for a lot of teachers to adapt. Many of them are so paper-based that delivering engaging content online at the drop of a hat isn't feasible. Some teachers really lack computing skills themselves and aren't trained well enough to use online environments like Google Classroom etc to a great standard.

Remember though every school is different as there has been little guidance on how we are meant to teach kids now. There is no Ofsted guidance on this, it is brand new. I can only speak for myself, but I communicate with my classes daily and give them constant feedback on their work -- for those without computer access I have ensured they have paper workbooks (free of charge) and have equivalent work.

I'm not up to speed with anything said on sewage today, but, on the basis that only do you cough the virus, you also crap it out, you can test effluent for most viruses and COVID can ( and I think has in some parts of the world ? ) probably be detected in Waste Treatment Plants. So, if you sample regularly, you should be able to get a reasonable estimate of the relative amount of virus circulating in the catchment areas.
Thought this was an interesting article on the subject

Notice Tennis - Angling - plus golf ...are allowed in social distancing...,..like to see the golfers standing 2 metres apart at the tee?

When someone's got a driver in their hand and about to launch it at a little white ball, most people keep their distance mate. The only difference really is their partner will have to wait a bit for the other player to move once they've teed off.

Not being flippant at all mate.

I just think that until this all goes away, the Who won the CV Cup is for another day. Actually, that does sound pretty flippant, but point is, we have a pandemic. People will die. So I look forward to when that stops.

Only then can we accurately assess who has or who hasnt done "well"

No doubt an air of flippancy running through the thread about COVID deaths.

And Government should have never started with the graphs and played the sillly game of one upmanship... And if we had the same graphs as South Korea or Germany Government and Tories here would be crowing all day long on every page.

Instead all they can be is flippant about deaths
