I'm very suspicious of these people. Obvioulsy there are (non-sinister) posters on this forum who are just influenced by the Cold War propaganda against China and all things Chinese, but there are others (not just on this forum but all over social media) who are here to influence and sway opinion in relation to that Cold War - shills who have their origins goodness only knows where. I think I know who those particular posters are and who are just the ordinary forum members who shoot from the hip on the subject.

Good Lord, now there’s an underground, sinister, global right wing infiltration going on lol

Well, there's a big difference between murder and a botched response. Almost no country has tackled this perfectly and governments are learning on the fly. This will be one of the biggest cases of hindsight in modern history. That being said, the UK's response has been particularly poor
It's institutional murder. Decisions have been taken by government and its hand picked health experts they chose to go with and they have killed people.

Daily figures have never been any use and that also applied when record high levels were recorded and posted everywhere, it was never the daily figure but always the trend that mattered. The R figure is now around 0.7 or less - the trend is therefore definitely lower.

Keeping that R figure at or below 1 is key to managing without getting a second peak.

There does need to be some perspective on this virus though imo - as the amount of coverage is giving the impression it's the worst thing anyone can get when for the vast majority it just isn't, for them its not cancer and almost always not a killer. It is massively and disproportionally more virulent on the elderly and more vulnerable members of our society - those with underlying conditions including it seems those very overweight.

You can look at different vulnerabilities and see the risk varies quite dramatically with age. While nationally we're comfortably past the peak, it's far from clear with the very vulnerable and exposed - the rate of deaths in care homes for example - has even reached it's peak at all.

At the other end of the scale there are 10 million people under 15 - out of the 30,000 with Covid on their death certificates, only two are from this age group - two from 10,000,000.

It's never this straightforward but generally, the younger you are, if not in an especially vulnerable group, then the chances of dying from this virus are staggeringly low.

The vaccine is the only real long-term cure but that's a hope it's not a certainty, personally I'm optimistic within two years, but we may have to manage this for years and years there are no guarantees.

Steps to go back to work have to be and need to be managed and planned with the new changed circumstances with a constant eye on potential dangers, but we can't just ignore the misery, suffering and deaths that could occur from an economy so wrecked it has no hope of recovery for decades - we can't have governments pouring money out while businesses produce nothing and risk collapsing, risking terminal decline is not the answer.

Please leave immediately, as there’s no place in here for a sensible and balanced posting lol

Cheers. I’m asking for my 17 year old daughter. She works part-time in the local pub and hasn’t heard a peep to date.
Keep an eye out if she has been part time as the employer/Government can average the wage over 12 month, I have a relation who did 6 months part time & 6 months full time and she got an average 80% on the 12 month tax year......
even though he last 6 months was full time.....

Can my lad come home from Uni then ?
He's been told he couldn't and couldn't book the train ticket.
He's also now tested negative after almost certainly having it ?
You can do whatever you like... Papers have said so and the government aren't telling people to stay at home. We've beaten this foren invader and all it took was a few weeks of lockdown a VE afternoon tea, a piss up and a conga.

What I dont get is why is it okay for the likes of Italy, France, Spain and large parts of the world to start easing lockdown measures but when we do it Karen gobs off on twitter?

Said it before but our media has played a massive part in this - done nothing for the past 7 weeks than scare the hell out of people with tales of 20 year olds dying of COVID-19 and ethnic minorities under siege and now every bugger is scared senseless of slowly easing measures.

Also a large portion of lazy gets who are furloughed just dont want to go back to work imo - the amount of people living comfortably on the 80% whilst drinking peroni in their garden every day of the week having BBQ's like its an extended summer holiday is hilarious - get them back grafting Boris lad especially those who cut peoples hair for a living.
An 6 week baby died yesterday.....-
