REUTERS: The US Food and Drug Administration said on Friday (May 8) it has authorised the first diagnostic test for the new coronavirus that allows patients to collect saliva samples at-home. The decision is part of the FDA's efforts to expand testing capabilities for the fast-spreading virus, which has caused over 70,000 deaths in the United States. The saliva test kit was developed by RUCDR Infinite Biologics, a unit of Rutgers' Human Genetics Institute of New Jersey, and its collaborators, Spectrum Solutions and Accurate Diagnostic Labs.

The test will cost US$150 and needs to be fully supervised by a practitioner via telemedicine to ensure proper sample collection, a spokeswoman for RUCDR Infinite Biologics' partner, Vault Health, told Reuters. "With our team of practitioners, we have capacity to manage 10,000 tests per day and are building to scale," Vault Health CEO Jason Feldman said.

Hmmm...wonder who provides the test. If patient has to get it themselves, I don’t see insurance covering it.

I had a couple of nights where I was waking up and sweating like a pig, aching from the joints, the other thing I had though that makes me think it wasn’t was I couldn’t get of the bog, I have never been the toilet so much. Within three days or so apart from still feeling a bit crappy I was back to normal.

A few days later my missus was the same, we just put it down to a bug that was going round

I had something on the 23rd Dec, so did my mate who I'd been out drinking with. Had to phone in sick for the first time in ten years. Couldn't even get off the settee to my bed. I rarely, if ever get ill, but whatever this was wiped me out
