What I dont get is we've been on lockdown for over 6 weeks so how are hundreds still being infected and dying every day still?

If its contamination on stuff like people touching items in the supermarkets etc. Then little we can do to stop that sadly.

The infection rate seems to be similar most days, but it’s the numbers in hospital and death rate that are the most important and thankfully they are both reducing by the day/week.......

Its perplexed me for weeks that.

Care homes I get. If it gets in, from a resident, care worker, delivery bloke, it will spread.

Social distancing is now part of life, so unless it doesnt work, its not from that.

Non Covid hospital admissions, or patients already there are obviously at higher risk to get it in hospital, so thats a few. Maybe more than a few, who knows?

All I can come up with is there must be pockets of very localised infections where it takes a hold and takes the piss. Care homes esq if you like.

Like my own situation is I am caring for Mrs R, (high risk if she gets it), and watching out for my parents, mid 80s. Again, high risk if they get it. All 3 will only get it from me, so I have been very diligent and done what we have been told to do.

And they, all vulnerable, havnt got it. Its just plain weird that so many still are.

Millions of people are still working, millions of people are still shopping and millions are also totally ignoring every aspect of the lockdown.

Thats how its still spreading.

Loads out shopping today here.
Total transactions so far since we opened this morning at 8am is 8488 and there's still a huge queue outside.
So with 2 or 3 people per trolley sometimes i would say we've had over 15k customers in one shop today alone.

Exactly. One could be tempted to take the view that the lockdown is useless. I mean how are so many people becoming continuous infected throughout the lockdown?

I
Seemed like Labour really put the Tories under pressure in the commons today, very tacit admissions of dropping the ball in a few settings by the Tories particularly on PPE and Care homes, its good to see actually.

Part of acknowledging that mistakes have been, is beginning to rectifying those & solve problems and its good to see the UK Government moving that way today.

Now flatten that curve FFS.

Worryingly, I wouldn't be thinking of lifting restrictions on Monday mind.
Keir Starmer put Boris in his place. But he's a barrister, well suited to court room adversarial performances. PMQ will be a breeze for him.

Maybe I live in Sensible Town then mate. Cos I just dont see any ignoring of the lock down measures.

You are sadly judging the world from your view.

You arent working, you are staying at home and you are observing the lockdown, so why would you see all the people flouting it?

On my daily walk I see so many people taking the piss, my neighbours seem to have had a party every single day, the parks are rammed and all the little scallys are roaming the streets in packs of 5.

I mean with respect, it aint all unicorns and pixies in the hood.

Thats mental. In my experience, your lot have had your system down to a tee. I have only been to one a few times, but every time its been 1 per trolly, all with cleaning sprays available, strict 1 out 1 in, and the one way system.

Similar at Sainsburys.

I have yet to see a single person use the cleaning sprays and not a single person has observed the one-way system.

I might consider moving to Bristol, it sounds like you people have a clue.

From my own experience, my own concerns regarding how stringently people are adhering to social distancing continue to rise from day to day.

I'm not saying we're going to see a rise in deaths, although we may, but in South Liverpool I do suspect that there'll be at least the rate of decline will slow.

You can't simply compare one nation's figures versus our own: their population density and social-habitats (distance naturally) play a huge part.
South liverpool is thriving!
Great scenes in sefton park etc
Like being back in school on ya summer holidays

From my experience lockdown seems to have ended in my area and when everybody goes back to work next week it will defo be over.
