I saw some pan-European data the other day that at the start of March, around 40% of startups had, I think, 3 months cash. So the end of this month is trouble time for a great many startups. In many ways, this is what I find a bit bewildering about the discourse around this, as you've got some very human stories attached to all this, and yet people are wanking themselves into a stupor around the precise number of tests the government have done or how they're counting the dead people. I don't get it tbh.

Another big problem will be public confidence after this too.

Even when lockdown is lifted, many people will still be too scared to go to the cinema, out for a meal, drink etc

Wow. Mortality rate 32%. I wonder if that is mirrored at other UK hospitals. Compare it with the mortality rate of 10% for those that took part in the American drug tests, and that included those given a placebo.

As an aside how can ethnicity be unknown on 22%?

Aye, it seems unlikely to be a smooth transition until a vaccine is widespread.

I’m assuming people would have to disclose it and they’d opted not to.

My palate is spoiled by easy availability of Westmalle Tripel. Pils just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Mortality rate in Belgium if you end up in the hospital is at 40%. That's pretty nuts.

I totally understand that thinking and I’ve seen lots of surveys supporting it , not that it matters but to be clear I won’t be one of those people .

BANGKOK (Reuters) - At the end of every 12-hour shift working with critically ill coronavirus patients, Thai nurse Suparvadee Tantrarattanapong has to disinfect herself before going home, where she sleeps in a separate room from her husband to avoid infecting him.



The 36-year-old nurse in the intensive care ward at Bangkok's King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital says it's a gruelling time, but saving lives is the most important thing - along with protecting her own loved ones.



"I’m scared of getting infected and the virus leaking from the hospital," said Suparvadee, who has worked in the intensive care unit (ICU) for 14 years.

But, despite her worry, she encourages patients to have hope.



"I keep telling patients that they are not fighting alone," she said.



Suparvadee's job involves knowing every detail of each patient's condition. The novel coronavirus outbreak had also forced staff to learn a new workflow because none of them has experience with this kind of virus, she said.



Since March 9, her hospital has treated nearly 200 coronavirus patients. Staff pride themselves on having not lost a single one.



The hospital also pays close attention to preventing infections among staff.



While fully suited in protective gear, Suparvadee guides her junior nurses on safety measures through their 12-hour shifts.



On Wednesday, Thailand reported nine new coronavirus infections but no deaths, taking its tally to 2,947 cases and 54 deaths since the outbreak began in January.



Suparvadee's husband, Udomsak Tantrarattanapong, 37, said he understood and supported her work.



"I told her to keep on fighting because whenever something new happens she gets through it just fine - and I’m sure she will this time as well," said Udomsak.

It’s not about precise numbers. It’s about deliberately lying. Something this government has previous for. That’s a major issue that needs addressing.

Ive got my own thoughts about the state of the economy before all this.

The cheap liquidity and ultra low cost of capital pumping up asset prices (and the effect of artificially ensuring that companies that shouldn’t exist, continue to do so) whilst at the same time austerity having a disproportionate impact on those most vulnerable as well as the impact on public services means that the economy is particularly vulnerable to external shocks such as the one we are seeing now.
