The only reason why the infection numbers are increasing is because testing is increasing. We had no testing before so it was only the hospital cases that we could go from.

Let me ask you this. Is the increased numbers.of cases possibly by people who are already self isolating and are asymptomatic?

The actual hospital numbers are down. Which means the risk factor is.dropping. the only way to know for sure is to test everyone in the country all within the same time frame. Otherwise its guesswork.

I still think slow opening is the best option. No social gatherings , limited visiting people , shops limited to customers much like supermarkets and go from there. Can't open everywhere up at once but allowing people to see family again , businesses to start back up at a reduced rate (if they so wish) and cancelling all big events for the foreseeable is the best course of action
I acknowledged that the rate is on a downward trend as we are testing more now. And I also acknowledged the same with those requiring hospitalisation.

But the fact remains that there are still over 4000 daily testing positive, 5 weeks after lockdown. Given 2 weeks of incubation and another week to 10 days of symptoms, I would have expected a big reduction in numbers over the last week. The vast majority of people testing positive now we have to assume caught the virus after lockdown. Or have I got the numbers wrong somewhere.?

This level of infection is too high to do effective contact tracing. Let's hope it comes down over the next week otherwise you can forget concessions

I wonder how America would have fared if they'd just dropped some bleach bombs on Vietnam instead.
They dropped paraquat {agent orange} to defoliate the trees ala agent orange - it gave some of their own soldiers on the ground Cancer in the long term...... and the Vietnamese were in bunkers underground - thank goodness out PM at the time Harold wilson refused to join that crazy senseless war .....
this war on COVID 19 we can't see the enemy......

We can, he turned up back at number 10 today.

Based on the current infected numbers and "official" deaths - assuming 80% of people who get the virus are asymptomatic or mild enough to not be in hospital and be added to official figures would mean the UK death rate is around 2.5-3% however again that 80% may be lower or may be higher.

I suspect it’s Just me but this invisible enemy and how we’re at war just Doesn’t really sit with me . I get it’s in the National , even international language now but it feels like it possibly plays to an other agenda.

Its killing people without any discrimination am old work colleague of mine was found dead last week lived on his own as he had just lost his wife ... found dead in bed..... days he had lay there.....RIP....
there's no agenda in people dying on a vast scale worldwide.....

Thought youd find this interesting mate.

Aye, I read that a minute ago. It's a bit worrying that they haven't mentioned that the courts declared the restrictions to movement were illegal last week, which has forced the government to speed up the lifting of restrictions. If they don't get something pretty important in there, I do wonder just how clued up they are on what's going on.

no argument with any of that . I’ve lost people I know personally and very possibly it was the cause of death of a relative.

that wasn’t my point though .
