Germany dropping below 50,000 active cases, and that is with a prolific testing program. Very positive news as their high point was around 72,000 active cases

In fact frozen produce can actually be more nutritionally dense due to that.

Find this dismissal of frozen food bizarre. Frozen is just a food preservation technique.

In my experience frozen food is never as tasty as fresh food..

I'm sceptical about every country's stats tbh. Unless we carry out in depth post mortem on every single death then we won't know for sure?

I'm also not sure how the totals are recorded and if the same reporting method is used in all countries.

The method of reporting is not the same across all countries some are only recording deaths in hospital from those confirmed as having the virus, others are recording any death anywhere as a Covid death if the deceased tests positive post mortem... those are obviously the 2 extremes.

Helen whately on GMB again this morning and made a right balls of it again.
I only caught the last 5 mins, just in time to hear her say she didn't want to mislead the public over the death figures for NHS and care home workers, and then be told that over a hundred had died when she claimed it was thirty or so. She also claimed the total death figures were 17,000 and Morgan tells her that the total figures are nearer 41,000.
Another classy performance from this grubby Government.

Bless her for sticking her head into the bears pit again but Jesus wept if she is the best this government can come up with then no wonder we have the worst death toll in the whole world.

Completely out of her depth... just like Hancock.

BoJo woefully underestimated this Virus and its threat to the UK people.
He is now in hiding, I don’t even believe he was that poorly. It’s all propaganda.

This is starting to stink very badly of a cover up.

The key players in this... Johnson and Hancock are nowhere to be seen.

Other government ministers are quick to follow the ‘guided by the science’ line to wash their hands of accountability.

The UK scientists have been way out of step with other countries... if these numbers being reported today are accurate then the UK science is wrong... yet the UK government continues to follow its guidance.

All involved need sacking and probably charged with manslaughter through gross incompetence and negligence.

The UK public are living this right now but we are seemingly sleepwalking in a torrent of death and devastation... because the government are misleading us on the real figures.

I've no idea quite how seriously his condition was, but my understanding was that even those fortunate enough to make it out of ICU after this virus had a very uncertain future, so it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he wasn't up for what you and I would class as a normal existence, much less the pressure cooker of running a government during a crisis such as this.

The bloke is a work shy chancer, but we really should be respecting what this virus is doing to people more.

The financial times has studied the data from the Office for National Statistics, that's all you need to know, the Government admitted 2 weeks ago they are only using hospital deaths in their daily disclosure of deaths from Covid-19.

The Government are fudging the figures as the true death toll here is a scandal and they know it.

I simply do not believe that there have been more than twice as many deaths in the UK caused by Covid. It doesn’t ring true.

As an example in Spain they had reported 16,353 deaths in hospitals but their national epidemiology centre stated there were 22,500 more deaths than usual over that period.

I've no idea quite how seriously his condition was, but my understanding was that even those fortunate enough to make it out of ICU after this virus had a very uncertain future, so it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he wasn't up for what you and I would class as a normal existence, much less the pressure cooker of running a government during a crisis such as this.

Most would argue he wasn’t fit to govern before he even got the bloody virus!

Unfortunately he won the biggest election win since 2005, so to suggest he should be replaced and everyone thought he wasn't fit to govern, is completely ridiculous. Once this is over then people will decide on the government's performance and if they don't think it was good enough then he'll lose the next election - that's how it works.

I doubt many people are back in work less than 2 weeks from being in ICU. But sure why let that get in the way of conspiracy theories.

The death numbers are going to be a point of contention for years, with different methodologies and assumptions providing different numbers.

Was just reading about the 1918 Spanish flu, and the death numbers there vary from 17m to 50m, with some estimating 100m, so the variance and margin for error is massive.

Think the best we can hope for will be to be able to say “deaths were between x and y” and hope that the variance is relatively small, and then have conversations in this context, either using an agreed average, or acknowledging the variance uncertainty.

You didn't say someone should be in charge, you said he was hiding. It's not reliable as I can't remember where I heard it, but I vaguely recall a stat of around 50% of those who are discharged from ICU still dying, with those who survive often requiring considerable care. It's impossible to know just how ill he really was, but to expect him to jump from his bed into such a role seems unrealistic to me.

It isn't a change Nymz. Just clarification and confirms what the Health Minister briefly mentioned in one of the daily briefings a while back. The police locally were heavy handed in this respect leaving notes on parked cars and closing car parks just outside the village so many of the older residents couldn't drive to get a chance to walk in open spaces. You laid into me for complaining about it if you recall.

Seems I was right all along and it was police interpretation that was wrong.
