Something isn’t right though is it. My wife and I seem to have had flu/cold/runny noses/sore throat or whatever since December. I wish to God I knew what the hell Is going on, but this is the worst year I’ve seen.....

I know the constantly snotty nosed kid during the winter is the stereotype, but can be similar in older folks.

And Pete, darling. You're old. :D

The first documented case of UK community infection (ie not contracted abroad) was Feb 28th. There is to date no evidence that it was widely circulating from the start of the year and even now the number of people who have been exposed is unknown because of the lack of testing, especially serology tests.
Absolutely! I have read that the actual infection rates are much, much higher... which would suggest an even lower death rate.

I know, but surely it didn’t happen overnight ? I keep hoping that it’s hay fever, but honestly it just seems like one thing after another...fgs I had a sodding cough for weeks.....

A much more reasonable reaction to this would to have been to protect seniors. Let people under the age of, say, 50 or something continue to go about their daily lives, and the government could have spent the money on protecting the old and vulnerable with home deliveries and whatnot. It would have made so much more sense and wouldn't have been so costly to the economy.

What we have now is such a ridiculous overreaction that I can't believe more people don't see it. It's incredible.

Even people being testing in the UK, ie showing up in hospital with severe coronavirus-like symptoms, are only showing 30% positive for the virus. Although some of it can be put down to unreliability of tests there clearly are other illnesses that, at least in the early stages, given some of the same symptoms.

I don’t know what testing has been done in the UK but here in the US those who have studied the earliest US cases in Washington (and have gone back and looked at bloodwork samples) are convinced it was only there in late Jan/Feb and even then only reached about 5% of the population before social distancing etc instituted.

ok...

  • Shortage of PPE globally - is this the Ministers fault ?
  • Delay in supply chain because of disruption to supply chains- Is this his fault ?
  • Wrong specification or a changing specification on what PPE was required by who in what circumstances- Surely even you must admit that this is not his job
  • PPE has been ordered it's just too late in the process to have been stockpiled effectively- sounds like the CS to me
  • There is PPE but not sufficient logistics to get it where it is needed- Down you you planners
  • It's the Civil Services job to advise and develop government policy - not manage supply chains and procurement - it certainly isn’t the job of a single Minister to manage supply chains and procurement, Bruce even posted up the guy within the NHS who is supposed to do this.
perhaps you have another list.....
I didn't even think all of the points posted on that one were true. Just giving you possible reasons as to why things have happened as they have.

I suspect the conclusion you've reached already is 'anyone is to blame but the government and the political colossus that is our PM'.

Today it's the CS, tomorrow, who knows.

Joking aside, you should see/talk to your physician if you have been coughing that long. You could have developed a bacterial pneumonia after getting a cold and that won't go away on it's own and can get very serious.

Breaking news: elderly man and wife have cold and flu symptoms at the height of cold and flu season.

It’s gone now. I had it in Feb and March.....I’m dead aren’t I.....

Funny, I doubt you had trouble with people posting here until it was someone who disagreed with you. lol Suddenly it's RANDOM INTERNET MAN.

Listen, don't mind these lads mate. I think you're completely right, and I'm going to get on to all of the world's governments and medical professionals and tell them they all got it wrong and that Aqui1a from GrandOldTeam has the answers. I will show them all your carefully collected data and findings too if you pass them on. Rest easy, stop posting, Prevenger17 has got this

It was your list. Are you admitting to posting lies and falsehoods.......

Ah, a slightly more creative take on RANDOM INTERNET MAN. I like it.

For the record, disregarding something because the person saying it isn't an expert in that particular field is very foolish. lol I've backed up my claims with numbers, bud. I don't need to be a nurse to make those numbers true.
