A consignment of personal protective equipment being collected by the RAF from Turkey will be in the UK “in the next few days”, local government minister Simon Clarke has said.
Asked whether it had left Turkey yet, he told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme:

I can’t speak to that, I’m afraid. All I know is it set off last night.
It will be with us obviously in the UK in the next few days, which is the core priority.

I will grant you that our CS and NHS bureaucracies have performed woefully, but I expect no better from them to be honest......

Pete it's not our NHS bureaucrats that are standing in front of a camera and lying to millions, is it ? It's our front line ministers. They have let us down and have not the decency to apologize for it.

Yesterday they introduced the term 'pre positioning' which seems to me to to be clever official formal terminology to describe not knowing ones backside from ones elbow.

This government drag every institution in the country into their maelstrom of incompetency. Now it's the RAF's turn to be pulled in and used as a shield to avoid criticism.

Haha "Stock Pre-positioning is a preparedness measure which can improve responsiveness. Pre-positioned stock enables response to immediate needs in an emergency and reduce lead time". They built a hospital in 9 days but can't build factories to produce PPE. Mind bogging, they'll lie about PPE coming from Turkey but could have had hundreds of factories built and producing PPE close to where its needed.

The state of our CS is actually very worrying. There are 365 Conservative MP’s who may or may not be in office for ten years. Meanwhile we have a public sector of over 5,000,000 who are in post for life. The great majority of these are doing a great job. The management of the CS and Public bodies is the concern because these are the people who are supposed to carry out government policy and too often they fail and ministers make excuses for them. That pillock who Patel got rid of at the home office may be an extreme case of incompetence, yet somehow I doubt it.

We have a major National crisis playing out. We have front line NHS workers doing what they should be doing, it’s about time the employees with the grandiose titles and large salaries pulled their fingers out. It might also help if the media and various parties stopped playing politics and got behind the effort......

So pre positioned are they that stock they claimed to be flying over on Sunday stil, hasn't left Turkey. That's pre positioning at its finest. They are way ahead of the game here.
