I knew that we would still have some form of restrictions in place well into May/June but I'll be concerned if no restrictions are removed whatsoever after these 3 weeks considering most of Europe have plans into May to start opening back up things such as small businesses, shops etc.

I think we'll see some movement in regards to certain business's opening at the end of the three weeks mate and a bit of leeway for the public but with all the restrictions still in place, obviously depending how the situation is like.

Just had a text from my GP surgery.

"A clinical trial into treatment for COVID 19 is occuring. If you have had continuous cough etc etc please go to www.blah blah."

Anyone else had it?

So I am the only person in the UK who has been told/asked about clinical trials starting?

Is it this trial that your letter refers to?

Dunno. Could be. But that article says they were doing stuff with 5000 hospital patients. My text said if you have had a continuous cough/high temp in the last 8 days, register at such and such a wesbsite, and text the nhs for more info.

Think this might be the one as it is through GPs
The PRINCIPLE trial aims to find out whether selected treatments given to people at higher risk of becoming more ill when they are infected with COVID-19 can help reduce the need for hospitalisation and the length of stay required, helping people recover quicker and with fewer complications. The trial is recruiting participants through GP practices across the UK.

Chance are, they'll likely be looking for people to do trials of antibody tests on. If you've had recent symptoms, there's a decent chance that, over the next few weeks, you'll be producing antibodies.

They need to test people who've had mild symptoms to see how sensitive / accurate the test is.

That will be the one then. Nice one. Dont qualify anyrate, thankfully.

That sounds like a rare bit of positive news to me.

Absolutely incredible the difference a competent government can have!!!!!

Germany's Health Minister Jens Spahn says the country’s coronavirus outbreak is under control, after a decline in the infection rate.
As we mentioned earlier, Mr Spahn says the number of recovered patients has recently been consistently higher than the number of new infections - showing the lockdown has been successful.

"The outbreak has, as of today, become controllable and manageable again," he told a news conference, adding that the health care system had "at no time been overwhelmed so far".

Figures published by Germany's disease control agency indicate the infection rate had dropped to 0.7 - meaning each infected person passed the virus to less than one other.

However, the number of fatalities is still rising, as is the number of infected health care workers.
Germany has been praised for its aggressive testing efforts. It has almost 138,000 positive cases, according to Johns Hopkins University tracking, and 3,868 people have died nationally with the virus, which is a relatively low number.
