Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

A group of that many is just ridiculous. They all deserve a fine.

I've been going out a run 3 days a week and to the shop once or twice a week. It's not fun but it has to be done. I only go by myself and I try everything to avoid coming within 6 yards of others nevermind 6 feet. Most of my running is on the road to avoid pedestrians!

It annoys me seeing groups of 5 or 6 walking about, especially those who let their dogs run loose. How can you socially distance when you let your dogs run off towards other people and other dogs!! Its starting to wind me up a bit.

I think next weekend will be a problem because people have certain routines they do over the Easter holidays and certain things they do every year and people dont like change.

They're idiots, then.

Just been out on a 1:hr 30 bike ride and while I did see people, didn't see many groups. One or two families (but of 2 adults, with 2 kids each time) on bikes. Other than that very little and no cars on the road.

I can only speak from my experience obviously. Maybe it's because a lot of people around where I live are knocking on a bit so they're being a bit more cautious.

A minority of the country won't believe this is serious (and therefore worthy of their attention) until they or a loved one of theirs gets it, unfortunately.

You'd think 700 people including a 5 year old dying in a day would provoke anyone with a brain to moderate their behaviour, but apparently not.
Yeah the amount of people you still see out an about is ridiculous really. Still see groups of young lads standing around smoking pot. Some people still genuinely believe it’s like the Flu or it won’t effect them an they don’t have to worry about it. The death numbers are getting higher each day it will like be a thousand a day soon is sad an it’s scary.

I mean they just do that regardless, mate

I'd say just don't go around going near to stoners ;)

On a serious note. The 1000 deaths a day is coming and soon. But lockdown measures were only introduced 12 days ago. In terms of other countries, we know lockdown measures have started to show results around the end of week 3.

If we're rising in terms of deaths and the curve hasn't flattened out a bit in terms of confirmed cases by day 20/21, then it's even grimmer. But people can't - as callous as it may sound - panic right now because the numbers are going up. They always were going to rise sharply in these weeks before there's a sign of results.

Interesting thread, worth reading for full context and limitations. Still need to see the results of larger randomized trials to draw definitive conclusions.

Yep and there are some RCT being done.

We have been using it at our hospital mostly without azith unless they have a bacterial pneumonia on top of the viral pneumonia. Not enough cases to draw any conclusions.

Heard that some councillor on Anglesey wants the Army in,loads travelling at night to their holiday homes, anyone on here from that part of Wales ?

Most of the groups I meet are families too but it's still difficult if you bump into parents with their 3 or 4 kids on a busy road where you cant go off the pavement.

It had been very quiet where I am for about 10 days or so but today was noticeably busier and I saw a few lads hanging around for first time in a long time. Maybe it was just coincidence but it was busier.

I don't think it's that at all. Pretty much everyone excepts lockdown is needed right now. It's also perfectly fair and valid to say it is not a long term solution.
It’s not long term we need a end goal. long term we need a vaccine or slowly develop heard immunity but at the moment it’s necessary an important for the lockdown to stay in place. I think personally a vaccine is what we need am not sure heard immunity will help the vulnerable.
