When bad people are locked up, they can do no harm to good people......

This isn't the place for discussions around the rights and wrongs of incarceration, I was merely suggesting that perhaps due to our short period of isolation, people will have a fresh perspective on the prolonged period of isolation prisoners endure.

Theres nothing wrong with getting out exercising. Especially if he isn't around anybody else whilst he does it. I've just been for 3 hours of cycling, myself. Lots of people out on the road. All solo. Everybody keeping distances.

The moaning about a problem he doesnt have, on the other hand...

It's a risk thing isn't it? If you have a crash (unlikely), you'll be using up NHS resources. If you have a mechanical (more likely), you'll be using up other people to get you home. Most serious cyclists have an indoor trainer, so there's really no reason to run the risk of either of these things happening because you need something you could get just as well indoors where you're at no risk at all. The advice of the NHS is quite clear - stay home.

Apart from being able to visit the pub, I’m not finding it too bad really....

I hear you.

I'm going out one day a week at the moment and 4 days on the trainer. And I'm deliberately staying on the car free paths once I'm out of the city. I'm even wearing a helmet, which I never do unless somebody forces me to.

As to the mechanicals... I've had 2 in 22 years that required rescue. And one of them was a snapped frame :D

I wonder also if this period of isolation might encourage people to scrap their notion that prison is a cakewalk as well? We've had it for 10 days and people are losing their [Poor language removed] over it (and that's with exercise in parks etc. 'allowed'). Imagine it for several years.

Exactly. I was thinking this the other day. I never want to hear the argument again that “prisons are like holiday camps now. They’re allowed a PlayStation and everything.”

We’re collectively finding it difficult in our own homes, with all the comforts that provides.

Was out for my run earlier

Streets and roads noticeably busier. Whole families out and about and people letting their dogs run loose.

I always worried that the first hint of decent weather would spoil some of the good work.
