Encapsulating nicely the small mindedness of so many modern left wingers. Provided with evidence of selfish, self-important, Labour big wigs prioritising themselves over key workers despite what they say in public... and this meets with not even disapproval from you. Deflect about the other lot rather than holding people in power accountable. This is sadly the case with many lefties, a warped politically determined conscience of what is right and wrong.

yes, that isn’t at all what you are doing here by posting guido and breitbart excrement

@peteblue I’m interested to hear what government help you’ve got for your pub since this started. I’m a fairly staunch labour supporter but it seems to me that the government has done a good job of keeping businesses and the self-employed informed and supported through this. Not going into how it’s been handled in other ways mind ...

I agree HMT has done a good job so far on this front.

What is key is them not turning off the taps too soon because of a fear of debt. That could choke off any recovery.

Matt Hancock is lying on national tele, yet again.

According to SchoolsWeek:

The Department for Education’s chief scientific adviser admitted he has not assessed whether guidance on reopening schools is effective, adding the current advice is “draft” and “will be developed”.

...

“The department has not done any modelling,” Rahman replied. “One of the SAGE groups has done various bits of modelling for different scenarios on what years you can bring back. My understanding is those will be published in due course.”

Amazing how they can just do this, and nobody holds them to account.

We received a non repayable grant and have put all the staff, full time and part time on furlough and they are very happy. We check up on them every other day. Also rates have been deferred for premises, although we already had a deal with the council being the last pub in the village etc. To be fair, we couldn’t have asked for any more help...My wife got similar for her shop and the self-employed HMRC process is a doddle and takes minutes to do. I have been really impressed both with the government and the Local Council the way these have been rolled out. I originally thought they would be a nightmare of paperwork, but that hasn’t been the case at all.....Oh, and we haven’t even bothered with the various loan facilities on offer, perhaps someone else on here has more info.....
