They’ve been done for a good decade now. The presence of Messi papers over the cracks and gives a false impression of where they stand. So many average players in that side. Defence is terrible but so is central midfield. To think it wasn’t that long ago that Redondo could be left out such was the quality they had.

Can’t see it changing much either. The odd decent player coming through the system but not like the stellar names of the past.

They've put a lot of effort and presumably money into making sure they aren't embarrassed when they host the tournament. This is a good test for them but and they won the Asian Cup so they are improving but they basically only play friendlies from here until the World Cup which is very tough for team development.

Apparently they won the Asian Cup scoring 19 goals and conceding 1 so they’re not as bad as people make out.
