Copa America 2019

Premier Sports, which I think is something like £10.99 a month.

I miss the days when basically everything was on Sky Sports and terrestrial TV. It's all gone steadily downhill since Prem Plus.

Competition definitely hasn't helped the consumer. Helped the clubs pocket a few hundred million more though.

I see. So Japan can win copa America ? Doesn’t even sound right
As they only have 10 countries in CONMEBOL they always invite 2 teams from elsewhere so they can have 3 groups of 4. Top 2 in each group and 2 best 3rd place teams then advance to the Quarters.

Admittedly the invited teams are usually from Central or North America but clearly this time they decided to go in a different direction. Who knows why?!

It was more ridiculous a couple of years ago when they had the 100th Anniversary Edition of the Copa. They hosted it in the US. So USA could have won the 100th Copa at home. Must have been a lot of brown envelopes floating about during the planning of that
While it was a complete money grab the idea of combining CONMEBOL and CONCACAF into one federation isn't wholly a bad one from the standpoint of increasing competition for the US, Mexico and some of the other decent sides like Costa Rica while also opening up a lot of American money to put into the South American federations and eventually clubs. It'll kind of fly in the face of tradition but honestly it might be needed to keep things viable especially if something like the Super League in Europe shakes up the landscape.

I was thinking the same too. It would lead to some difficult travel itineraries for qualifiers though

I agree it could possibly make sense to combine them in some way going forward. But given they aren’t combined I just find it a bit of a joke that in the centenary year of a South American competition to host it in North America. By all means invite the North and Central American teams that have competed over the years. But at least hold it on the host continent.

Decent team that apart from the ladyboy up top.
