Cool Heads

Should save those angry faces for the manager/board/owners. Demand better.

Huge huge summer coming up recruitment wise here, last season we had a ridiculous amount to do and still failed (IMO) to hit the bare minimum.

We simply HAVE to sign two new starting full backs, we also can’t continue with the two up top. I think we are still far too short of pace out wide and also crying out for a number 6.

Huge amount to do again, and we can’t get it as wrong as we did last year. I think people’s views on this season have gotten a bit distorted from where we ended up at the turn of the year, yes it’s been a really poor run in but I would argue pound for pound our squad is still a long way away from most of the teams around us.

I’m sure our squad value was sitting around 15/16th at the start of this season. Moyes isn’t blameless here, I don’t see why he’s been so unwilling to rotate and give youngsters more game time but clearly he’s trying to win as many games as possible.

Cool heads needed among the fan base and recruitment team here though I’d argue - yes we want better than this season but let’s see where the squad is come the start of next season. If we haven’t addressed issues that have been there for literal years, then heads need to roll.
We need a new CB too.

I think 12 months ago, and I'm sure there was a poll done on here ( @Daveysgingerlovechild hook us up pollmaster) with the majority being alright with finishing 10th. We ended up 3 points off it. But situations change, the league got poorer, midtable became most of the table, and we couldn't take our opportunity. It's tough to keep a cool head now it's all done and dusted I'll be honest. We didn't even have to be good, just competent, and we would have been 7th.
I think the getting into a decent position and the season ending with a whimper has done for a lot of folk, particularly seeing lesser vaunted clubs finish above us again.

Chuck in the Moyes factor, who, for many, was an unwelcome return who ended up demonstrating many of the foibles that frustrated first time out.

The significant expenditure and strange use of many signings doesn't help. Take Dibling. If they'd loaned him out to develop eith a view to the long term it'd make more sense. Here I'm thinking Branthwaite going to the dutch league fir a season. Habing said that, its a lot to spend and then send for development. Strange all round.

But yes, I think there was a poll saying mid table was the expected position for many, but as ever context is so important.

Nonsense. Each to their own opinions-wise mate, but to me, yours is a post of excruciatingly low standards.

….i think i heard in commentary today, Tarkowski/Keane are the 6th best pairing in the league. Important to remember, Keane is only playing because of Branthwaite’s fragility.

I do tend to agree about the squad, though.
Because we set up to contain every match. The system we play is intended to be defence first.

Nothing wrong with that, but when the players in front of our current CB pairing haven't been able to shield them, which they've struggled to do in the past few months, they have been badly exposed.

And when we've tried to play high, both have been embarrassed by players running past them.

If we want to be on the front foot, especially at home, we need better than Tarkowski and Keane.
