Contracts - A seasonal positive

One benefit of players playing for new contracts is they tend to perk up a bit even if it's for a new club.

In 2004 when we finished fourth we had a similar issue I think.

i guess one way to look at it is how many are first XI in 2024 group. I think it is 5. Doucs Gana young danjuma / Harrison. They are key and are core to our midfield

It's why any sort of transfer ban would be disastrous for us. A transfer ban could actually be far worse than any points deduction given the state of our squad.

I'm also expecting the likes of Doucoure to be sold in January; someone that will have to be replaced!

What we do need to do is sell and reinvest in Jan where we can with a view on next season.

A few good sales and a few key buys and this problem gets a lot less. There’s been some good work to change the age profile of the team, reduce the wage bill, and balance the books.

Pickford Patterson Branthwaite Garner Onana Beto DCL Chermiti McNeil are the core of the squad moving forward, wouldn’t surprise me if we added Harrison to it permanently if he performs well this season.

A few more outs Gomes Keane Docuoure and a couple of astute buys in defence and midfield and we’re not too badly positioned.
