Contract Issue

This is probably more of a sweeping statement but one thing i don't see many people asking these days is why are we letting players contracts run down every year? The whole thing seems bizarre considering we are a club that is skint.

1. David Moyes- There are conspiricay theories about why this happened by why didn't the club get their manager to sign a new contract? Hell Spurs tried that with Redknapp and replaced him when they knew he was playing silly beggers with them. For a club like us who used to rely on stability every year, he lost an awful lot of compensation for a manager that for all intents and purposes would have left us for United no matter what he had signed.

2. Leighton Baines- Our best player, last 18 months of his contract and no signs of a renewable any time soon. Considering his gae as well it seems like we are repeating past mistakes all over again. Get him to sign now and whatever he sells for will be his value, because come the summer, he will be worth less than he is now, and can we afford to lose money?

3. Steven Pienarr- Another bizarre situation, we wouldn't offer him the wage he wanted, sold him for less than his worth and then bought him back for more?! Why didn't we sell him on the summer if that was the case? Why didn't we meet his demands and save all the hassle of selling him in the first place?

4. Johnathan Heitinga- Answer me this, what other club with an out of favour INTERNATIONAL striker would be giving him away due to his contract being up soon? We signed Distin for what 5-6 million at an older age than he is, why are we practically giving him away to someone? Surely wage demands or not someone could have paid a few million in the summer, you know some sort of transfer fee rather than just watch him leave for buttons.

There are more examples but i mention the above as a highlight to my question considering they are all important in some way. Does it not worry people that as a selling club we seem to keep going in circles with players and selling for less than their worth ? That 2 million or slightly more in the summer could have brought in an extra player, even if it was a loan. Instead we have to look to replace with simply the slightly less wage bill coming from these decisions and meanwhile sell for a profit every summer.

First and foremost, you can't make a player/manager sign a contract they don't wish to sign.

Regarding Heitinga, the club have been trying to sell him for years.

It's not hard to see why players are holding on is it? I mean firstly you'd imagine Champions League football would be a big factor, both in our appeal as a club, and of course the wages they could earn. There's also the small matter of a World Cup in the summer, which would be a great platform to raise their value, either to us or AN Other club.

James McCarthy can be added to the list of those disillusioned with the Club.....the lad hasn't signed a new contract yet. Martinez too...still hanging on with his old contract. Seamus Coleman is disillusioned too as he only has 4 years left on his deal and this proxy club haven't even called his agent. I'm cacking my kecks that they'll allbe gone by end of Jan.

Honest lads....not here to be controversial and get noticed innit.
