Did Richard Dunne come through our youth set up or did we just buy him young.

He'd tick all 3 boxes if so.

I think Dunne was 16 when he joined, I seem to remember him being interviewed on Irish TV before a game vs Blackburn in 1995, he'd just signed. They used to show delayed games starting 30 mins late, they scored one of the earliest goals in prem history that day and we lost 1-2 (Shearer, Suton and Stuart for us). Blackburn defended for the full 90 that day, apart from their strikers, worst team ever to win the league.

Joined as a 15 year old in 95. Made his debut in 97 whilst still 17.

John Ruddy playing in the PL this season, Baines, Jags, Barton were all in our academy for a while as well.

I think Turner has been in Scotland squads as well.

Daniel Fox was in the PL last season, played for Celtic and Scotland.

Seamus Coleman.

I thought he did ok but I didn't think he stood out.

I'm always wary/careful with putting too much stock in young reserve players getting a run with the first team. I remember against Columubs a few years back when our left back Boyle had a decent game. He got a lot of mention on here but I think he was eventually released.

I wouldn't be surprised if you see the same with this kid in a few years. Not a knock on him, just saying that he's got a lot of hoops to jump through to be considered for the first team.

14-year-old star set to emerge?- http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/11-12/news/article.php?ID=10285

He's actually 19. http://www.evertonfc.com/academy/conor-mcaleny.html

Doh! He did score both goals in Russia. He notched up a very impressive 5 goals in 8 starts for the reserves last year- Vellios only managed 3 in 8 and Baxter got 4 in 14. Funnily enough he says that his biggest strength is his pace. I've got a feeling that while our attention is distracted by Barkley, Rodwell and Coleman, this lad will develop into a fine player.

I've spotted the problem.

OS: "McAleny joined Everton’s academy at just 11 and in the summer of 2008 has been recruited as a full-time scholar."

The Echo reported that he joined us in 2008 aged 11. Toffeeweb have just repeated it. He'll be 19 in August.

Liking this fella

He also appears to like his music. An easy way to my heart. His pic is a Floyd, lad poster too FFS.

i think hes a long way off at the moment havnt seen too much of him TBH but he looks like he lacks the strength to cope with PREM defenders but he aint gonna learn if he isnt around our match day squad so looking forward to seein more of him
