I suppose we haven’t got centre forwards so why not get rid of our centre backs as well before we dismantle the midfield. Sounds like a plan ;)
Perhaps Dyche is going total football aka Holland '74 only in extreme mode.

Who ever is left just play where ever you want to and we'll see how it goes.

Would've been a solid enough signing for cheap, unless he was demanding ludicrous wages. We need young players yes but seemed a sensible deal, and I've no faith in our club to source a better alternative to be honest.

Fingers crossed Branthwaite is ready, because he's going to need to be.

Mina was out of contract and wanted to go. Coady we had an option and chose not to take it. Its hardly dismantling the team. Lets see whats incoming over the next few weeks before all the doom and gloom. Has coady suddenly become a lynchpin in the team? So coady was 5 mil and likely a sub so we should just pay it coz hes already here? The lad is average and hopefully better will be in to replace him.

I think it was the right decision letting Coady go, nearly £5m plus wages for a 30 year old CB who will stunt the progress of Godfrey as a CB and Branthwaite plus I think if we have money to spend there is better out there, even on free transfers.

Certainly wouldn`t want Keane or Holgate, both need to be legged but I think Dyche might look at Tarky, Keane, Godfrey and Branthwaite as his 4 players for 2 CB positions.

I think he's going with Tarko and Keane with Branthwaite being given some game time in cups etc or covering for injuries.

You need 4 decent centre backs and we only have

1 (Tarko)

then we have

1 who is inconsistent (Keane)
1 with potential (Branthwaite)
and 2 others who we all know aren't up to the job over a handful of games let alone a whole season (Holgate and Godfrey)

We really need to get another decent one in but no idea who or who we can actually afford.

It was tongue in cheek. However, thinking about replacements, given the likely financial restrictions we will have for the foreseeable I expect we will need to raise funds from sales before we can buy anyone. I’m not expecting a bumper summer window

We all saw what happened with our replacement striker situation last January (none) so there is always room for some doom and gloom as an Evertonian mate when it comes to transfers.

I get what you are saying but im hopeful the situation isnt repeated and we have a bit of movement upfront and elsewhere. Anyway thats my last contribution for a week or so til we see what happens/doesnt happen.

Really? Are we still clinging on to that hope? He cant defend.

Lets give him some games there, seen him there a few times, some good and some bad but he needs to play in that position more... possibly Dyche just sees him as a utility man that can play anywhere across the back 4. His pace is an asset, he is quicker than the average PL CB.

I`m not saying he is going to be good or bad, we simply don`t know because he gets played LB more often than not.

Usian Bolt has more pace than the average CB but that cannot be a reason to continue playing players who are rubbish at football.
