i think that may be an americanism there, word of advice.........never use the 'f' word we save that for the melts across the park.(y)

Maybe a little "Americanism" but I intended more than that: We obviously have a nice foothold in africa (Yak, Yobo, Anichebe, Pienaar), (Castillo and Howard from this side of the atlantic), and the Pacific (Cahill, Chang Beer).

Of course, you don't want to just bring people on from around the world (like Fulham last year with their American experiment), that may increase awareness, but it dilutes the brand. When you can get top notch players from other spots, it can do a great job increasing both awareness AND the brand.

Oh, and thanks for the head's up on the "f" word. I won't make that mistake again (I knew better than to use the word "soccer" though).

Our marketing dept. failed to give us a presence in Liverpool while it was the capital of culture for Europe. Can't see any global presence being planned because commercially we are a disgrace

I can't speak to the marketing as obviously there is none around here. Even if the marketing dept is inept, whoever is building the "team" is doing it well, and from here, all I get to see is the play on the field (which hasn't been great yet this year, but I'm still holding out) and the members of the team.

I've been a fan for 3 years now, and based on the results on the pitch and the pieces assembled for the team... Everton should be a brand on the rise. If it isn't, the marketing dept may really be a disgrace.

He really has been a fantastic goal keeper, and was one of the players who provided a solid base to our recent success.

we are a club , not a brand.:)

we are chosen, we had no choice
you may think you chose to support Everton but the fact is you were born blue and it was only when the blue light shone your way that you realised this.
thats the difference from being a 'brand'

not having a go personally just dont like the brand word

taken from the o.s.

Tim Howard became a record breaker on Saturday.

The goalkeeper was making 100th appearance for Everton against West Ham – and he's conceded less goals than any other custodian to reach that landmark.

Howard's record is even better than that of the legendary Neville Southall, the American having conceded less than a goal a game in his Blues career so far.

Games Goals Conceded
Tim Howard 100 99
Neville Southall 100 102
George Wood 100 108
Gordon West 100 113

well in tim lad, i doubt if many (self included) follow stats that close that they even realised that this 'record' was in the offing. maybe as some sort of symbolic gesture we can give him....

a bin for beating big nev
a handbag for beating gordon west
and some of blacktoffee's viagra for wood

sorry though tim, Big Nev is still our greatest keeper.
*hears [Poor language removed], [Poor language removed], piss-flaps shouted from finch farm

Made me laugh out loud!!! comedy genius....

Good record all the same, had we not conceeded so many so far this season the record would have looked even more impressive!!

Ah yes, the same Tim Howard, who according to resident football expert Halewood Blue, should be "replaced sooner rather than later."

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

No more like this:
1. van der Sar (not negotiatable for me):D
2. Cech
3. James
4. Howard
5. Gomes (I know he hasn't had the best start possible to his PL career, but he's just awesome when on top form. Competing with no 1 and 2 on the list for me)

I think van der Sar is washed up. Sure he can start a counterattack well but he's pretty lousy at stopping shots.

I also don't think Cech has been the same since his head was rearranged. Witness Euro 2008.

James is starting to struggle this season as well.

The only keeper I've seen this year who is having a really good season is Jussi.

Always been vocal in my support of Tim and always rated him. Also felt some of the stuff said about him early season was just looking for someone to blame sort of stuff! A few goals he was blamed for which clearly were other peoples fault. Just my opinion though and maybe a little biased as I am a keeper too!

I would put him in a top 5 list but never would he be behind David James. Last Season James was class, but still made some very huge David James usual gaffes! It happens too often with him, and this season hes not as good and still making those errors.
