CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

The problem is who wants him ? After taking my mum out yesterday I had a few drinks with some fairly well informed football people and they have never been convinced that there is any real demand for him and the weekend certainly hadnt changed that . The difficulty he'll have is if a big club don't want him any sideways or downward move looks cheap and if he was to struggle a decade long built reputation can disappear in months .

Fair point mate, football is a fickle business & Moyes losing "he's never won a pot" caveat, would have strengthened his CV for sure. Saturday has merely strenghtened his status as a 'nearly man'.

I'm sure there'd be takers, but at what level & at what salary, I don't know.

Actually the Celtic thing makes sense to me.

In Moyes's mind, the only thing stopping him assuming his nrightful place at the top of the managerial tree is the fact that he has no CL record to speak off and of course, no silverware.

We all know he ain't getting a better job in England than he has now so why not go to Celtic?

Guaranteed CL football and he will pretty soon have several trophies under his belt.

Then he will feel they can't resist his claim to the OT fiefdom.

And as for the dough......the bugger has had the guts of £30,000,000 from us in wages over the past eleven years so I am sure he will live with that for a couple years intil his ascension to the OT throne.

Like in my previous post though has that worked for lennon ? This bloke beat barca and will win another title at a canter but you want him replaced , I take it lennon would have his pick of jobs though ? No he wouldn't mate , if you said a club in Portugal or Germany then yeah I agree it makes sense but who really looks at Scotland for either players or managers ? It's certainly not top four sides.

As for the money they all love it moyes us no different , the likes of laudrup may be different as he's stinking rich as it is the likes of moyes didn't have a stellar career so he might drop a few quid but £2-3m a year !!

Did Coyle turn them down? Genuine question. I didn't know that he did.

I accept what you say as the typical next jobs aren't very glam. Dick Advocaat an exception though for obvious reasons. You could maybe argue Lennon is younger though?

Yeah whilst he was at Burnley , 'dead end job' to replace Mowbray I think ? Was a massive favourite and various people made a fortune laying that bet (y)

I don't believe for one minute that he'll go on a free. He's spreading his legs looking for a suitor big time and its pissing me off that we're his back up because he knows full well Bill will give him yet another pay rise for winning nothing.

I want the bloke gone, he's taking the piss.

I wasn't trying to be a smartarse mate so apologies if it came across that way

Mate, you are so polite!!

I was more annoyed with myself! My thought was based on the fact that he was ginger and Scottish! Yours was based on fact!

No need to apologise at all mate.

When you have a manager who has basically implied he is looking for a better offer, if he then stays, what does that say to his squad/players?

I just want him gone.

agreed.
I bet you he still has most of his money from when he was playing, financially he could easily take a pay cut having earned so much already.
He already said previously he wants to manage celtic at some point in his career and with guaranteed CL football (he badly needs to improve in european football).
and another thing moyes hasnt experienced is what it takes to win a trophy, he will win plenty at celtic.

He will have plenty of offers from the Premiership, clubs like Sunderland, Villa and West Ham would sack their Manager today for Moyes. He might not get offers from CL clubs tho.

How would it look if he left for one of those though ? Moyes would be in real danger of hammering his reputation , as much as we're suffering for all this he's played this really badly for his own career in my opinion .

Morning Blues.

I think David Moyes thinks his reputation is bigger than it is. I personally like many others am eternally grateful that we enter each season no longer as relegation candidates and even if he went, regardless of what some die hard moyes supporters think we are now stable top flight team who are not going to suddenly capitulate and fall into the championship, I just can't see that scenario happening.

The problem is a lot of football people outside of Everton, people who actually follow football and watch football not just notice league tables and spout cliched rhetoric about knife to a gun fight etc. Real football people will have seen 11 years of at times really atrocious football, with the odd sprinkling of dynamism.

Real football followers will know that he can't get a full season out of his players, can't win important matches, sets his teams up not to lose, has no tactical plan B apart from kick it long to the big man and above all has won nothing.

He has no money despite breaking our transfer record on numerous occasions, albeit his hand forced to sell first sometime.

For all he is good at and he does have qualities which we all know he can pick a piece of coal and polish it into a diamond but only if the diamond fits into formation, as shining bright on your own doesn't fit his team ethic philosophy.

It's ultimately on the field that matters and most of us know this is where he falls short. His stoic 4-5-1 formation served a purpose when he took over and we needed to 'not lose games'. He changed all that and yet his tactics stayed the same even when no longer we were struggling and to push on from 7th place you need to start being a team that has killer instinct and unfortunately we don't.

So thanks Dave but if you can't be arsed good look finding a better bigger club than ours.

Sorry if that's a bit long but i'm miffed with him.

Do you see him dropping £200,000k a month wages to play in a league without a challenger ? Your argument is shot down as you'd have them sacking a bloke who has achieved their best champions league results of modern times , who has left Celtic or rangers as a manager in recent years for a big job ? Birmingham , borough & villa are the kind if jobs they get , it's only 2 years ago Owen coyle turned them down . It'd be career suicide for me

Yer but, Wait, Erm what about

Bugger

Imagine you and your missus went on a night out, drinking happily and having a laugh. But as the night wears on she spots some rugby lads on the dance-floor and realises she might fancy a bit. But obviously she came with you, so she can't sever the ties completely, as she knows you'll still go home with her at the end of the night. She goes over to the big meatheads and starts dancing and grinding, maybe even flashing a bit of bra at them to catch their attention. But none of them are buying it, turns out she thinks she's fitter than she actually is.

So she trots back to you knowing full well you'll take her home and give her a good smash, cos tbf she is still pretty fit and there's no better options. But mid smash you realise, actually, I wasn't the first choice here any more, and the whole thing leaves you with a nagging resentment.

That's what it'll feel like if Moyes signs.

That's similar to what I've said before more as Evertonians we need more self respect , I've certainly got more than that unless like some you buy the 'its all about more transfer funds ' which is the equivalent of I'm 'working late love ' or 'she's just a mate'
