CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

What do you honestly expect in terms of progression ?

In the past ten years Moyes has spent about £15m net. Spurs have spent £100m. Chelsea, City, and United have all spent way more. The only team who haven't massively outspent us in terms of transfers is Arsenal, but their wage bill is far higher.

We will never improve beyond 6th/7th without serious investment. No manager is going to come in and get us in the Champions League every year, or even guaranteed European competition at all.

On the flip side we could get a manager with zero ability to spot a cheap transfer and in a few years we'd be up s**t creek.

Is the finance excuse still valid now Swansea have won a trophy and qualified for Europe spending less than us and making a profit in the tfr market?

They beat the rs at anfield and Chelsea at the bridge on the way as well, so no lucky route to the final either. We lost to leeds.

Money issue's, tactical issue's all aside, now might be the right time for a change.

Lets really see if he is as good as he and many people think, and lest see if we are as tiny as these same people think.

Moyes' refusal to sign a contract has put a dent in our performances this seasons for sure. I don't mind if he goes or stays, the change will do us good.

I also think they have been a little fortunate- Michu has been an unbelievable find and every now and then a piece of luck like that can happen. Where would Swans be without his goals this season?

So Swansea winning the League Cup somehow invalidates the entire issue of football finance & the fact that Moyes has consistently out performed his budgets over a decade?

LMAO

I'm not defending Moyes, when i say this ( If i'm honest, i think its stale on both sides. A change would be good for Everton & Moyes ) But our problems lay much deeper than first team manager. It's akin to finding a bit of damp wall paper and realise you have an issue with damp. Now to me, changing manager will be like putting up new wall paper, but after a while the wall paper will become damp again. We need to get to the source of the problem.

Having a new manager will not sort out our growing debt, it will not also sort out a new ground move as well. If our next manager does a Mike Walker, we will be well and truly screwed. It's a big cross roads this summer, and our board have quite a good record in failed projects since Moyes was brought on board.

It sure does.

The excuse for Moyes not winning a trophy is we don’t have the finances to compete. The excuse for Moyes not being able to beat the top teams at their ground, is that we don’t have the finance to compete. The excuse for Moyes...well you get the idea, it’s been spouted on here often enough. Swansea didn’t have the finance to compete either, but look what happened. Then we hear of his bad luck in cup draws, yet we’ve been knocked out many times by lower league sides.

There are excuses for everything. Moyes is not bigger than Everton football club. Football is a game of 11 players vs 11 players. Managers need to be able to both put a side together to beat teams, and also to not get beat when required. After 11 years I’m struggling to think of evidence that Moyes can do the first one. Sure finance can help make management easier, and there is no doubt that some clubs spend more than us, but at the same time Swansea have shown that it is possible to win trophies, without sacrificing league position, without spending a fortune.

Just like Moyes gets credit for his good buys, Laudrup has to get credit for Michu. Swansea also play to Michu's strengths, something I'm not convinced Everton are doing with Jelavic.

lol, so the entire argument that football is lead by finance i.e. that those who spend the most, win the most, has been over turned by Swansea winning the League cup......

I look forward to them putting up a title challenge next year mate.

Agree with every word it's almost as though the excuse mentality is there to be protected with some - mystifying.

I find it inspirational that a club who were a game from going out the leagues when Moyes took over have got to the Prem, play as they do, win stuff and make a few bob all on a wing and a prayer - cannot imagine a single reason why it shouldn't be celebrated by all neutrals.

Don't know what to think!!!

I have been struggling to decide what way we should go regarding Moyes . I am a big advocate of his as i remember the dross outfit we had when he came in and he has put us in a position where we at least challenge the elite. However part of me says he can not take us that next step.Negativity in his tactics being my main concern. He as taken the most clinical striker we have had in years and turned him into a bumbling wreck who drifts wide all bloody game, and then rips him in the press knocking his confidence further. The contract situation doesn't help. He accused pienaar of holding club to ransom then does the same himself .No matter how good a job he done he is not bigger then the club. Although that's the problem . I think his time is running its course but who would do a better job? I am scared at the moment. Scared of change on the one hand but scared of stagnating on the other . Interesting few months coming up for us blues, just looking on nervously and hoping for the best .

You're pretty much spot on - on everything mate. A bloke called Ijjy will be along soon(if he ain't already posted) to give you a slap on the wrist for starting another Moyes thread. Don't worry it can be merged.
