I love the idea of it personally. Everyone connected to our club(and every club) should have some connection to it. Idealistic in the extreme I know and possibly a recipe for disaster as there's little room for sentiment in football these days.

The only time it seems to happen is as a caretaker who does really well with the initial bounce and pulling together then he gets a 3 year deal and is sacked within another 9 months .

Yea, it is really risky, probably too risky, but we have a good squad at the moment and we seem to have a good coaching/scouting structure in place. It might be naive but we couldn't do it after Walker or Smith for fear of relegation. If we were ever to promote from within, now is probably the time. I'd prefer it to most of the managers mentioned on this thread and any of the very top managers probably wouldn't come here with no budget.

I've noticed a lot of Moyes fans(might just be forums) really do see him as an elite level coach up there with the big names.

I like him and recognize what he's done for us but I don't see him in that way.

it's just the forums mate and even then it's qualified with "I know he does this and does that and sometimes I think he's a complete ..." - absolute mystery how we can all recognise his shortcomings but some are terrified to try and improve with a change - voodoo stuff.
